The 'spirit' behind this, as opposed to the 'letter' makes me feel uncomfortable about cleaning windows for the next few weeks.

The spirit is that you shouldn't go out for fun and to socialise.
Well, it seems Boris has clarified it on his twitter page for you. Unless you think we can stretch window cleaning to 'key worker' status.

Well he should of made this clearer about only key workers going to work. I think a lot of people in the UK will be going to work tomorrow not knowing they shouldn’t be.

You can travel to and from work, if it's absolutely necessary and you cannot do it from home.

If you're a window cleaner you cannot clean windows from home, so it's absolutely necessary for you to travel to work.
What you do is up to you, twist it how you like to allow yourself to go to work but it's irresponsible to tell others blatant bullpoop to support your poor decision.  It's obvious to almost everybody that the 'absolutely essential' referred to the work itself and not the travel aspect of the job.

They'll know full well they shouldn't be but they will decide making money is more important.

I agree he should have been clearer but obviously he has a hard job and decisions to make and only a short amount of time in that speech. He should have said only key workers but from the twitter page it looks like we shouldn’t be leaving the house just to clean windows. If we do what he says we will be back at work with lots of dirty windows to clean and no threat of catching a deadly virus or passing it on. I’m behind with work as it is so going to be stressful don’t get me wrong, but no one was listening to the government so was forced into this

Don't worry. If it was for key workers only to work, he would have used those words.

Yes, it is to us to earn a crust.  We are not in contact with anyone.  Be sensible

So seriously who was he talking to then? If you consider yourself 'absolutley essential' what workers was he asking to stay home?

As usual, I'm confused.
He missed a superb opportunity to play the Mighty Clash- Should I stay or should I go and list the go jobs.

does anyone know how much universal credit we can get roughly think i might have to apply
The government need to give us the same as they are offering to pay employees to stay home, then I think we would all happily do so.

We can work, that’s for sure.

The question is, do we want to? It’s going to feel like walking on egg shells.

We need financial help. Not to be forced to go out and work when people won’t want us.

We are staying at home . he hasn't made it 100% clear but I'm 80% not working and 20% working so going to go with my gut feeling and stay at home.   It will hurt my finances but if all them idiots could abide by the rules already in place then who knows it might not of come to this

Thanks lads, all your differing opinions have helped me make up my mind.

It's gonna cost me a few quid and maybe some customers too but I'm not going to be responsible for possibly infecting and killing anyone.

I'm stopping from now on wards.

Good luck - stay safe - see you on the other side.
