This can be pretty commonplace in Liverpool. They don't just see another cleaner and mind their own business, they're right over to you !!!

am on wirral and get it a lot over here too, what do you say to them?

U no there's a clean n clear already covering Liverpool wirral dont u lol
Just to answer this Dave i already know there is a clean n clear on the wirral. I've been threatened with legal action from him over the similarity in names. He can do what he likes, he's had his answer from me and i've not heard from him for about 9 months...........or more.
As for what do you say to them? I would say this.....i've been threatened and gave work up because of it, i've been threatened and stayed my ground and still have the work. I've made excuses to some cleaners why i'm there and others i've told to sling their hook !! Its never been an exact science. But if i'm 100% honest its a big downer on my day when i hear the clatter of ladders and some numpty comes over to me asking ......what do i think i'm doing? Had people ring up and tell me that unless my van is out such and such a road my legs will be broken, been stopped coming out of an estate asking where i've just been. To cut a story short my advice on what to say is this without any bravado................
Hold your ground, don't take the defensive. It can be hard to do especially if big guys are confronting you in an agressive manner. Do not try and justify why you are there, they'll name a million reasons why you shouldn't be there. Just accept the fact you are and its nothing to do with them. If you feel threatened then just say if you're after trouble or causing trouble i'll involve the police (straightaway). That should make them back off.
The worst thing i've ever done is to say i just do this or that one etc..because they then hold you to that and want to cause murder when you pick up more. So just chase them from the start.
These retards will have the same approach...........just chase them from the start. So if you dismiss them straightaway you should be good to go !!! I just try to dismiss them totally. i'm here for my customer, i'm not interested in your round, leave me alone, i don't wanna know, i'm not interested etc..
Report any incident to the police and you'll get an incident/log number, even if you've had a bit of a do in the day and nothing so much happened. They won't go investigate it but what you tell them will be on record, Its all on file for later use if need be.
I'm sure trading standards would be interested if approached in the correct manner of how many window cleaners conduct their business. Anyway, always remember one thing...........they're only window cleaners !!!  ;D ;D

Reading through the posts it appear's to be a bigger problem than i thought throughout the country i did not realize its happened to most on here.. i Started in early 2004 after working for a large company and ive had one or two of the usual get off my road or estate or what ever usually because am cleaning the house they used to clean and the customers got rid for the previous cleaners swearing to each other in the garden and when the home owner asked them to keep there voice down had a right go at her... then hes having a right go at me for taking the job  ???

It does ruin your day when your having a happy day at that happens it certainly appears that you get it more over in Liverpool than wirral though, i try not to take much notice to them i just carry on cleaning but i tend not to try giving anything back as i dont want anything damaged like the van booted in lol.

As i said probably in 10 years ive had about 4/5 "your on my patch thing"
Dave.

Dave there's real world and there's a CIU world. In the CIU world they're fine unless someone undercuts them. IN the real world they don't want another cleaner in the same road as them. And who is ever going to admit they lost a job because they where crap and someone came along and gave a bigger quote and got the job ?!! Archer makes me laugh, because whilst he's keen to protect his work and the vunerable old people he looks after he thinks nothing of darting to Formby to clean a solar panel courtesy of an offer here. Yep, a solar panel, all the way from Manchester and still maintaines his neighbourhoodwatch scheme. Now that wants some beating !!!  ;D

That's the problem with this forum, people like you coming out with rubbish.

There's another E&M and I occasionally get customers ringing me from Fife. I point out I'd be happy to clean their windows but 800 miles is a rather a long commute. Still, if they pay travelling time...

All them Jujitsu fellas spend about half an hour rolling round on the floor. Seems like hard work to me.

Cleanclear,

why did you say I would travel all that way to clean 1 solar panel, and who misinformed you.

Just for the record, I refuse a hell of a lot of work and certainly wouldn't travel distances like that for jobs like that.

Please tell me where it was, if it wasn't Formby ? because what I wrote was true and correct, I don't lie

*voice of reason*

Cleanclear is getting ARCHER confused with Ronnie Patton.  Ronnie recently replied to Solar Steves request for somebody to clean a small array of solar panels in Formby and carried out the work.

deeege,

Thank you for your voice of reason, I hadn't got a clue what cleanclear was going on about.

Although from his original comment he WAS adamant in thinking it was me, and saying I travel such distances for 1 window.

Where do you clean ? what areas ?

Cleanclear,

what areas do you clean, and what type of work do you do ? just being nosey

Cleanclear,

thanks.

Am I correct in believing you do solar panel cleaning then?
