I think we have to be realistic on this subject. There are so many window cleaners now that 'treading on toes' is bound to happen.I have my own ethical code when canvassing/quoting/following up enquiries:I never ask whether someone already has a window cleaner - that's their business, if they want to tell me so they will.If I do know they already have a window cleaner I never ask how much they're being charged. If I'm canvassing, I knock and ask if the householder would like a quotation (having already delivered leaflets so they know who I am). If they say no, I thank them and move on. If they say yes then I give them my quotation, based on my current pricing structure. They may or may not already have a window cleaner, I may or may not be cheaper - none of that matters. I have behaved ethically and given them my quotation together with a description of my service and its benefits. It is now up to the person to decide whether or not to accept that quotation. This is based entirely on my pricing and my level of service. There has been no mention of whether or not they already have a cleaner and what he charges.I would never decline an invitation to quote - I'm in business. If I win the job and it later transpires that I'm cheaper than the existing cleaner, that's business but I haven't tried in any way to deliberately undercut. If I'm more expensive then that just tells me the other man is not doing a good job.Provided you always act ethically, no-one has any reason to complain and if they do I simply point out my operational methods as above.
Quote from: CleanClear on April 23, 2013, 11:26:58 pmThis can be pretty commonplace in Liverpool. They don't just see another cleaner and mind their own business, they're right over to you !!!3 times I had it last week mike, only once thisWeek so far! But it's 6 am on Tuesday morning So there's plenty of time yet! Funny thing is I've had very little bother since I startedBut since the start of this year it's happening more and more !

Quote from: Central Window Cleaners on April 23, 2013, 04:11:50 pmHad some muppet pull up and stop me today while I was delivering flyers saying you cant flyer round here this is my patch.I told him there is no such thing as your patch and I can flyer anywhere I want. He said if I loose any customers there will be trouble, so I gave him a flyer. He said what do I want a flyer for? I said so you know how to get in touch with me :-)I would have lamped him.
