I see you are in Scotland.
I'm in southeast England.
I reckon at least some of the price differences are regional.  £35 - £40 is about right for a job like that by WFP down here IMO.  There's no doubt that some of the living costs get higher as you get further south - especially private renting and mortgage costs due to higher house prices.  Mind you, you could also get such a quotation refused down here.  I suppose where someone is with their business is also an issue.  If I were to get refused on two thirds of my quotations but get the other third I would feel OK about that whereas that would not have been the case when I had less work.

I wont say how much I would charge as looking at the pictures there are sides to the house not on show, no telling what may be hidden (might even be a 60 foot conny)

The owners would expect to be paying alot more than £20 thats worth £45 all day long whether wfp or trade they know they have a massive house and they know it will cost.I have a barn conversion i do a lot easier thatn this £27 every 5 weeks.

Id base my quote on £1.50 per window trade around £40 but i would be tempted to add on an extra £5 so id quote for trade £45.

By the way i live in rural suffolk.

I would have said £30 wfp,

but i am guilty of under-pricing by 25% at times

Why is everyone scared to put in a high price for jobs like these.....there georgian...there a pain in the arse trad or not...more so trad,,but still a pain.

 Id go round with the woman comment on how lovely her house is how beautiful her garden looks. Tell her how glad you are that she contacted you cos she obviously takes pride in her home and garden etc and you take pride in your work of cleaning windows, let her know that you are reliable and friendly and any one that works for you takes the same pride in there work and are equally as respectable and friendly.
Ask her,,,Have you cleaned them yourself before cos if she has she will know how difficult they are to clean and she wont then expect us to do it for peanuts.

Id then charge £60-£80 depending on a few more factors eg distance.

Look for her reaction and its not difficult to read what shes thinking. Remember you can always come down in price but never go up..... if she says 'great thats fantastic, i thought it would be alot more than that'.... then you got the price wrong.
If she umms and arrrs and cringes her face slightly and says...'ooooh its a bit pricey...but...i really need them doing..... ok then.'   Then your bang on!
So what if she hits the roof and says no.... wait for her to calm down and explain why...and if she still says no then ask her what price would she be happy with youll be amazed at how little they will drop the price...most of the time alot less than if u dropped it cos you feel bad and are desperate.

Its happened to me loads.

And now i never just put a note through the door with a quote..i will always arrange to see them in person. The chance of you getting the job increases massively.

I'd quote £50 and there's no way I'd do it for less; and I'd charge more if I had to travel any more than four or five miles.  In fact I do less for more.  

This morning my first job was a £45 one that took about 40 minutes; I've been cleaning this property for about four years now.  I've many jobs £30+ (three with indoor swimming pools, some with stables, underfloor heating, granite or marble kitchen work tops) - my biggest domestic job is £150 twice a year - and these sort of people should have the money to fork out for £50+ on their window cleaning.  They probably spend more a month on fresh flowers for their house.

And not so long ago, a carpet fitter recently fitted a carpet in Wor Little Un's bedroom; it took him about 40 minutes and he charged £50 and I thought that was a fair price for the fitting.

Jdemarco gave some good advice; what he's basically saying is that the customer pays for the tradesman, not the job.

I understand what you mean...like when your watching who wants to be a millionaire and think that you can do better or critising a footballer cos he fluffs a shot up...like you can do better.

 When your out there on a job pricing up and the pressures on its not easy to get a good price usually because you tell yourself you wont get it before you even tell them the price..you hear the word no sometimes before you knock on the door, its alot of psycology...your toughest customer is you if you change your thinking you will get alot more yes's than no's
But the fact is we can get those prices it doesnt happen all the time but some of the time it does.
If you dont think you can get them, then you wont...ever! Untill you think you can or you know that you can..and you will

It took me a while to start realising that but I reckon you are bang on with that.  Not sure that I ould feel comfortable with £60 - £80 though.  Something that I've done in the past (this may be a bit naughty)  , is to quote for first clean and if it's clear that it's not going to happen, I've then mentioned that the price for first clean is generally higher but that regular maintenance cleans would be a bit less.  That way, everyone saves face. The customer doesn't think that they've beaten down the price (because the first quote was just for first clean anyway) and you know that you've still got a regular customer for a pretty decent price.

It takes some quick thinking on your part but its the little change in direction like that that goes a long way.

I'm trad, most work bungalow's,i'd say between £35/ £40,

After 1st clean you'll know how long it'll take,say 1st clean £55/£60,

Then give in a quote,based on how long it took you
