I understand what you referring to Tony.

Just a point though - we have 3 moderators on this section of CIU - Ian,Doug and Mike. Only one of them, Doug, has an involvement with CLEAN.

Ken and Joe

I see what your both saying.

I will email Pete and ask for more information (whether he will send it to me after this i dont know), as i said my problem is not with the new association, and it will be interesting to find out more.

Still though i do think on occasion the moderators need to be moderated as there are, if you look, inconsistencies they should address to ensure that the forum is open and honest and benefits all of its members equally.

Tony,

What gets said on here by anyone will not be judged by anyone in the CLEAN group.

We are not selling anything, there is no profit and this is for the good of the industry so the moderators have done nothing wrong.

Mike Boxall is the owner of this forum and what he says goes. Mike and I have certainly not seen eye to eye in the past so I can assure you there is no favouratism involved. If he felt it was innapropraite he would have removed it immediately regardless of the opinions or connections of the moderators.

I have your email which I will reply to. I see in the main you are a contract cleaning firm. I might be able to pass some work your way in the future.

I will reply in a bit with my details and perhaps we can have a chat.

Pete

Although as Pete has said this is going to be a none profit organization Don't think that the people doing this are doing it for the good of their healths.
Now I am not saying they should just pointing out this is a bussiness venture for those involved I think.
or am i getting it wrong.

Hi Tony

You are absolutely right, we are not just doing this for the good of our healths. We are not insane. If 10% more peolple in this country have their carpets cleaned will we all benefit? Yes. If I get a national contract of work will I be doing some of it? Yes.

The idea of any association is that the 'association' doesn't make money but the members do! the work generated will be for the members to make a profit, the costs for running would come from membership fees any excess would be put into marketing to gain more work for the members.

Look forward to receiving details, best of luck to all involved.

At least their doing something and so what If the guys who put in the groundwork reap the benefits.

Been apathetic in past but maybe a forum led organization is what the industry needs.

Tony,

If someone builds and maintains a website they will be paid for their time which is obvious, I hope this answers yours and those others that clearly want this info made public.

Why have you asked this on here when you were emailing me questions earlier?

Perhaps due to the lack of detail at present some have formed the opinion that this is just another organisation out to take our " hard earned " and give nothing in return.

If it lives up to the expectations and aspirations of the founding members IT WILL PUT MONEY IN YOUR POCKET as it ( as I understand it ) is primarily about

Improving consumer awareness of the benefits of regular cleaning

Improving the image of carpet cleaners through certification

Increasing the volume of carpet cleaning work by better marketing

That's what I think it's about and if successful it will benefit the entire industry

WHY NOT  As you say Pete myself and others are curious and by posting about CLEAN on this forum it has raised many questions people want to know.
No other reason whatsoever it's a forum.

and we all know to get something off the ground and running takes time, energy and money.
So if those involved get a payback so what,
but like any business starting from scratch, you put much more in then you get out.
So I dont think there will be much return initially, if any.

I have registered my interest and look forward to learning more.............. in due time.

Pete

Dont know how you think i am in contract cleaning, i,on my own only do carpet cleaning, i do dabble in contract cleaning but pass that through another company(my old mans) who i also do work for so we would be happy for any contacts, thanks.

My main concern about associations is the power they can create if not managed properly, i was watching Cromwell today on bbc2 (good film, total work of fiction), i do think Richard Harris is (was) a great actor, did love him in the Wild Geese, but anyway back to the topic, all associations are corruptable (just like the house of commons). I dont know why all the members of this forum got into carpet/and or/general cleaning but it wasnt for an association to tell them how to be trained, what chemicals they can use etc...etc..etc..

All associations have to have standards and all the rest but i wouldnt like to lose work because i am not a member, whats to say mine or any other cc standards are not better than that of an association?

If that was the case and we wanted rules etc... we would get a franchise so we could be told how to run it?

Just my thoughts

If one of CLEANS aim is to promote higher public awareness of professional carpet cleaners is that a good or a bad thing?

I know I am getting fed up with Rug Doctor being promoted as a professional carpet cleaning machine, and the likes of Ideal World selling the Bissell machine for £200 and stating it does a job as good as getting a professional in - maybe if that "professional" is a splash and dash merchant their statement maybe true. However, the real professionals are getting tarred with the same brush and its not good for us nor the public.

What impact CLEAN can do - we will have to wait and see.

If CLEAN only achieves half of what our aims for it are, then the industry will  benefit as a whole, let alone the members.

Tony, to answer your question - NO, there are no plans for the directors to draw a salary of any description and I can assure you that you couldn't put a price on the amount of hours that have been put into the set up of it.

I know it must be frustrating guys, but we are launching it at/just before CCDO and nothing will change that, but then all your questions will be answered.

But please believe that all Directors only have the best interests of the industry at heart.

You'll just have to take my word for it.

Steve
