I was afraid to post summat like that Tosh, would give the impression I was all hippy   Know what you mean though. Rich (Very rich ) bloke told me once, get happy, then go and get what you want, you have to be happy fist. I'm not rich or clever, but if a bloke has what I want, then the chances are, he knows more about it than I do, if I'm not where he is, if you know what I mean.

i can admit i love nice hings they make me happy along with mfy family but thats just me.

otheewise i would work 2-3 days a week on my own and live ok.......but iok is not good enough for me

Ronnie, all the things you say that make you happy are external to you and if these made people happy, then rich people wouldn't commit suicide would they.

But they still do.

I recently read about a study of lottery winners and it was found that they were just as happy or miserable after they won their millions than they were prior to having to money.  Its recognised that being happy is genetic; each of us are born with a level of happiness and some people have higher or lower thresholds than others; but that level isn't fixed and studies have shown that material stuff in the long term don't make people happier.  For example people live in beautiful houses and become blind to it all.

There's no point to this dribble I'm typing really; however if you find external stuff stops working for you, then maybe you should take a peek on the inside.

I aint having a go Ronnie as I think me and you can do without it,  but after 4 years you must have a good idea where you want to take your business and what are the most important aspects of it



for me I suppose it would to fill my books with just domestic and drop the commercial,   I know that may sound crazy to some but for me its all about customer relationship and domestic for me is the more loyal.

I have just dumped a £200 a month commercial job ( 4 hours work )  because I wasn't happy doing it because the bloke I subed the work off was spineless so in December I told them I wasn't doing it anymore.

of course turnover is very important but for me a happy run business can still be successful

im 30 years old and i guess ill learn and become wiser but i guess the last years have been my happest of my life maye its a coincidense(cant spell most words so wont try now ) thats its while iv been doing extremly well business wise, which means making more profit.

I prefer the challenged, building something not always successfully. Sometimes you make money sometimes you lose money, but the money for me is not the important part.

i do understand but i do like to give my kids the best, i guess that comes from having very little when a kid.

its not always the answer ronnie. I was spoilt as a kid, had what i wanted and turned out to be a real arse! came back to earth with a bump and built up from scratch after being labeled a bum etc.

I spoil my kids but only to a certain degree. when they are old enough they will be rewarded for their efforts, not just given to

Ronnie, sorry to pick on you (but my ego is forcing me on ), but these people who thought you would come to nothing that you mentioned, do you really think they care what you've done?  Do you really think you're so important that they're turning bitter with envy at your self perceived success?

Or, are these people - from the distant past - still controlling your thoughts and actions today?

profit and as less stress as poss

Im happy with a nice local residential round for me to work 2 or 3 days a week and another van to do the commercial

All though residential window cleaning is a nice regular income if you have an injury or something happens where i cant work for a while its possible to loose the lot, if you have 2 or 3 vans running you will still have an income and someone to cover your residential work

I dont want to be rich as some have said it can make you miserable just comfortable but secure having covered most bases

it is true what tosh has said about happiness being an internal state of mind rather than produced by belongings however we are talking about what we want for our businesses and surely that is success although money isnt the cause of happiness neither is want.. So wanting to have a nice house and to send your kids to university is no harm. The only time money is going to be a hindrance to your happiness is if you neglect family for it or yot are deceitful and unnecessarily ruthless in your business dealings..

Ronnie...i know where you are coming from mate.
When you have to struggle as a kid and are feeling constantly kicked down by your peers then that is a motivation to go out there and get what you can...and good on you for that mate.
I work for profits and sustainability of my business.I would like to be able to use the profits in the future to invest in other business/s....kinda like Ewan,i get a kick out of building the business.
We all want best for our kids,even those that cant manage to give it,but to give it we need to earn those pennies and increase our turnover/profits.How you do that is down to what you see for your future and how you motivate yourself to do it.
AND IN THIS BLOODY WEATHER WE SURE NEED SOME MOTIVATION....

Thank you; a bit less of the 'fat' though.  I'm about 10 pounds overweight, which isn't that much really!

But I do find it sad that your motivation is because you feel you've been kicked down by your peers, so you've got to 'get out there and get what you can'. 

I bet your 'peers' don't really care what you're doing, so why are you still letting them control you?
