hapyness is important to every one surely but its what makes them happy that differs.

Im really wanting to know what is important to thier busines.

im trying to grow my business so its something that can look aftr me in time and y hard work and stressful days will be worth it. hopefully my family will have a better life i had my kids will have a fund for uni have holidays and a nice house. An hopefully i can afford to pay my for a solicitor for my continued contact battles.

I think business should at its core be about profit

otherwise why bother

Turnover is vanity and all that

However i personally chose this (not being big headed but i like 100% on here can do what my customers might deem a "proper" job, in management or etc for some international firm, slogging your ass off for some boss who wants blood for 40 k a year before the tax man takes it all) But i got sick of the rat race before it even started ive always hated school and college despite being academically very good i got a 's in everything but hated it

I wanted freedom and wc gave me that , years on now ok its monotonous but i like my life i can work at my own pace do things when i want etc and although i chose to work hard i dont begrudge 99% because its my choice

So i would say my business affords me not only profits which are getting there and by end of this year i will have met my first major goal of getting to vat limit

But mainly gives me a stress free life (when it stops snowing)

I dont think im materialistic but who doesnt want a new car and a nice home for the family and enough money to enjoy life and go away now and again!!

going out doing some small units and shops tommorow local

keep saying to myself im being lazy but when i try drive anyway its soo bad
im constantly diggin out the car and sliding round bends

had a few near missis and just have to keep telling myself it wil be over soon and then start again

But its hard watching savings go down

Im moving this month too and ive had to pay 6 months rent up front as i dont have enough books to prove income

No mate, Ronnie was asking what's important to your business, not do you think what is business about. I think I know what you mean, but business isn't about creating custies, the same as opening a business isn't about providing jobs, it's about making money. Ask Richard Branson. He isn't in  Business to help people earn money or have a better life, he's in business to earn money.

Ronnie, all the things you say that make you happy are external to you and if these made people happy, then rich people wouldn't commit suicide would they.

But they still do.

I recently read about a study of lottery winners and it was found that they were just as happy or miserable after they won their millions than they were prior to having to money.  Its recognised that being happy is genetic; each of us are born with a level of happiness and some people have higher or lower thresholds than others; but that level isn't fixed and studies have shown that material stuff in the long term don't make people happier.  For example people live in beautiful houses and become blind to it all.

There's no point to this dribble I'm typing really; however if you find external stuff stops working for you, then maybe you should take a peek on the inside.
