recession hitting hard?
« on: October 15, 2009, 08:10:28 pm »
just being talking to 2 window cleaners today and like myself they are feeling the pinch.1 of them has lost nearly 40% of his run due to recession.even his weekly shop fronts are asking for fortnightly now. is this just our experience?

Are we talking domestic customers here? If so, is it in an area recently hit by a local mass redundancy?

TBH i've found that as long as people are working, they've still got to get their housework done. If they didnt like doing it / weren't able to do it before, i doubt very much the thought of saving a bit of money is incentive enough. Especially in window cleaning? I pay £30 a quarter for mine and it would take a lot for me to give that up.

Do you think prehaps the 'reccession' is an excuse to ditch a window cleaner they don't like much?  ???

40% is a massive hit...must be a local firm/industry that has died...

the whole economy is in freefall, and i'm not joking.1 local factory cut 60 jobs this week in a small town of 4000. the other 100 on 3 day week

No problems here; just picked up The Mortgage Shop, The Complex Pub, Noah's Ark Childcare Centres - we already had three of them and picked up the fourth, Hoppy's Sports Shop, a shop called Wow and eleven new domestic customers in the past week alone ;D.

To loose 40% of his business I really do reckon he must have been doing something very wrong. Maybe he was too expensive, making it easy for other window cleaners to undercut his prices ??? ??? ???
Come and talk dirty to us!!!
