fishing pole keep breaking
« on: July 31, 2009, 05:57:09 pm »
hi all, went over to using a fishing pole, just to see how i got on,,,,blinking great easy to use and realy light, only thing is,it keeps breaking,my first pole was a energise 8mtr fiber glass, needed a bit more height so got myself a carbon 11mtr and this is the one that keeps breaking at the top section they are so thin so i keep ending up repairing it by sawing off  the bit that  broke and carrying on ,only thing is it broke about 4 times today,,,grrrrrrrrr its ended up back to an 8mtr pole now,,,,so could anyone advise me on a 11mtr pole that is strong enough for everyday use,,,by the way i was using a realy light brush so it isn,t due to the weight at the top end believe me,,,,thanks ,,,,kev

When you make the next one you want to decide which section will be your top section. Next, saw about five inches from the base of the next section - the one you are going to chuck. This small piece is already re-enforced - superglue it to the tip. You now have a super strong tip to your pole.

Fishing poles are made for fishing, they are not designed to have a heavy brush on the end.
Reaching parts traditional window cleaners can not reach.

i am not sure why people have such issues of hate with fishing poles

they are SUPER LIGHT

they are easy to use

they are as cheap as you can get

they are SUPER LIGHT

as i said above, mine is allmost 2 years old, who can complain about that ? ? ?

we here about changing bolts and clamps and people having to tighten clamps and spray PTFE spray and clean poles etc etc, my fishing pole has had no cleaning, no spraying ( though i did get some spray for it, i cannot find the can in the garage )

the main selling point is how light it is, people just dont seem to get that point

Matt what is the maximum length you can go? you said something in another post about a gangster + add 2 sections from another pole, would that be strong enough to work at angles?

thanks to all who offerd sensible advice to me ,and to all the others,,,,what a bunch of jokers you all  are,you should be on the stage are,,ha,,,ha,,,,ha,,,,,ha,,,grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr,,,,,kev (only messing) but to be honest fishing poles are cheap they are great to use, just don,t forget where you left the sections when you put them down,,,nothing worse then getting to the next job and realising you left a couple of sections at the last job,,kev

they will work over conserv's etc etc, i would use them at any less than 30 degree, i think you are then asking for them to break with the stress of the joints

Hmmm, not quite sure about that reply. The seem to manage ok with a 10lb fish on the end. :P
