My Mother was diagnosed with Liver Cancer 2 weeks before she died. It was hard but you had time to deal with it,

I sat at her side when she took her last breaths, somehow that made it a lot easier to deal with.

When my Brother died who was 19, that was a lot harder to take, it was sudden and totally unexpected, no time to prepare whatsoever.

Just be there for your mum.

3 days was okay actually Dean, it could have been worse.

We were glad in a selfish/odd/strange kind of way that that was it.

In fact there was also humor. On one ocassion Mum was lying in bed, she died at home, she'd just cracked a joke, no-one actually laughed as we were all so wound up in the emotion of it all, and she responded in a sarcastic way 'Whats the matter? I aint dying you know!' Amazing!

There are things you can do as well after your Mum has gone.

My Mum was a member of the RSPB so I continued her membership but in my name.
I also donate monthly to Macmillan.
I do things for old ladies and customers that I sometimes think I should have done for my Mum, I kinda pretend theyre my Mum I guess, maybe Mums watching me do it and approves; whatever, I know its good to do.

I used to talk to Mum at work after she died, that felt good too. When I see some types of birds flying (birds of prey  in particular) I think more of Mum as she loved those things.

All may sound silly to some, but these things have helped me.
