4040...on its way
« on: March 05, 2009, 07:23:53 pm »
Those loverly peeps are GAPS namely June....have just advised that my HF5-4040 and bits are on the way....so...when I get it all I shall be putting together a picture 'walk through - set up' which I hope will help others...but until I am...expert enough ;)

Does anyone have any information about putting together a 4040 system...or indeed any other information such as filter changing periods, etc, etc

My new setup will be to supply me and another w/c with water...

So here are the parts that I shall be using:

HF5-4040 membrane  (+housing).
2x 20'' prefilter housings.
2x 13l DI vessels....(may seem overkill but I have my reasons).
1 x 12v Solenoid cutoff switch.
1x Horizontal float switch for the above.
1x Pressure guage
2x inline tds meters.
2x Water meters.
* All the fittings are the Hozelock style so getting spares will be a question of nipping to the local DIY store.
1 x 12v bilge pump (for filling backpack/trolley or emptying van tank)

Things still to get:
toggle switch for the cutoff switch & bilge pump so I can turn them on/off when required.

Insultation for pipes.

The idea is to be able to make water whilst my van is in the carport and in the event that I have really big water usage days/large jobs I can then place the membrane board into the van and make water whilst on site....

So in the mean time if anyone has any tips and tricks with regard to usage or installation I shall be jolly gratefull.

Oh and not to forget Mike at Varitech is a really good chap to advise on things like cutoff switches/floats and the like...

Cheers
Dave.

hi dave , cant really offer any further advice, except to say I have the same membrane from Gaps, its very straight forward to set up and I doubt you'll be dissapointed. It has been the most worthwhile upgrade (from a merlin) to my business.
Good luck with it.

Will be getting my HF5 40x40 RO on monday, this RO is the latest technology and works at very low pressure it has no rivals at the moment and is set to be industry standard.A single membrane will produce 200-250ltrs an hour un pumped lol, that`s like having a twin RO setup.

Here is a picture of the 12v solenoid and horizontal float switch.

You may notice on the solenoid cutoff unit the numbers 1 & 2...I am assured that '1' is the inlet and '2' is the outlet.

Thanks for the additional info NWH...I picked this membrane so I could do away with the need for a pump...just trying to create a system with fewer bits and pieces but as you know when you remove something from the chain you end putting something else back in ;D

Cheers
Dave.

www.gapswater.co.uk if your buying an RO get the new HF5 membrane it will produce far more water than you`ll need twice the amount of a merlin and almost twice the amount of a standard 40x40 at even low pressure.

ccmids....sounds as if you are 'surrounded' with alot of choices..I suppose the best bet would to try and assess what you really need now...as in today and say the next 6 months and then try to 'guess' where you want to be in relation to work/hours/water usage in say 2 years.

If you could put that down on a post, I should imagine other users would be able to be a little more exact in their idea's and opinions of what would be best for you.

But in the meantime here are a few suppliers that may help you.

www.cleantech.co.uk
www.gapswater.co.uk
www.brodexbms.co.uk
http://exelsystems.co.uk (*Andrew McCann - great guy & very helpfull)
http://www.clearviewplus.com
http://www.windowcleaningwarehouse.co.uk
http://www.varitechcatalogue.com/

There are of course loads of other suppliers but this may help you out...

Cheers
Dave.

To be honest...the pole/brush is the real biggy..I could wait 24 hours to make 400 litres of water and all the mucking around with using a static tank/pump etc....but the pole and brush for me has to be light....

The attatched piccy's were of a garden center I cleaned part of this morning...having a light pole and brush made it easier on the body.. ;D

Any reason you want to pole up and trad down?

Cheers
Dave.
