^ Here that makes it easier.

That looks great Paul, how does it work? Or do you want to keep that under wraps for now? :)

hi tim its a great tool. sort of thinkin of tryin to sell this idea if possible. i am in process of tryin to design this product. the way i hav it set up is very diy. it really makes life so easy i just stand there an feed hose through a towel to clean it while it is being reeled inn

Yes liked it, yours doesn't drive the spindle as mine does. Presumably it's some kind of wheel pressed against the riim of the reel. Mine is faster and has more control, and the clutch to stop jerking. But of course if you had a lead with a switch this would give better control.

Yours is better than mine in the sence that you don't have to alter the reel in any way (I have to remove the handle).

Impressive!

I like the idea of that.

You'll be at the next Windex with a little stall selling these reels for a pretty penny I reckon!

Was that 100 metres reeled in?

If you could add one of those remote control fobs as well, it would be ace.

yeh it was 100metres reeled in in a minute. there is a switch to increase or decrease the speed.  not sure bout remote controls but its sumthing to look into.  cant see me at windex yet  8) more like dell boy at a car boot sale. how much would it be worth to sell?

Well, I'd have to see it close up.

I'd also want to be able to add it to my own reel, which I bought recently.

I'm probably not going to be your best customer at the moment though, as I haven't got my tank fitted yet, so still a 'barrel boy!'

What do you reckon it would cost though?

The simplest way that i could see would be to drive a small tyre that is hard up against the rim of the reel this would work for pretty much everyones reel. The switch should be on a lead, in the case of your van I would want the switch mounted on the bulkhead behind where the drivers head would be.

This doesn't sound too difficult does it. Source the motors and bits of wires ect. I suggest a selling price of £150. Get more than four on here to sign up and send you a deposit then have a go.

You know as well as i do that once they have it the job is transformed and they will consider the money well spent and recomend you.

i had to make a few adjustments to my reel. i am tryin to make it so that the buyer doesin hav to do as much work.  still not sure what i would charge prob round the £100-£125 mark but for that it would need to be good quality product.

The 1 on youtube looks like it could be using a devise such as a tool sharpening motor that just sits static on a work bench.

Ok, without giving your idea away, what power is the motor that is used?

Is it 12volt, and what is the amperage?

Would it be a case of one reel in in the morning, and you've sapped your battery for the rest of the day for the pump etc?

I've been using an electric reel every day for every job for about six months. My batteries are drill batteries but it wouldn't drain a leisure battery at all.

If it didn't work we wouldn't keep on about it, when I first did it I was amazed at the difference it made and was sure that loads would follow me in, but they didn't. Some even now take the pee, but all I know is everyone who actually sees it wants one.

I am convinced they would really make a big difference, you do notice the strain from time to time on your arms and joints. It needs to look like part of your kit though,i`ve tried the drill and on it`s own it dosen`t really work it puts strain on your wrist.I would think that it`s simple for an engineer etc to build, and done properly would make a huge difference to your working day.

Im really going to take some stick now i know...

but it is not hard reeling the hose in... come on guys.. is it?

its the same as pulling it out.. only your arm is working in a different way.

what about thinking of something that makes life much easier whilst working...

like a pole that extends with the press of a button.... or a brush that pumps up and down with the flick of a switch....

i know we are all striving to make thoings easier.... but reeling a hose in .. well its a little exercise. and a doddle..

wait for it.... ;)

It`s another thing you don`t have to do and all these things make your day easier,it`s not just 1 thing it`s a combination of pulling and pushing that put un needed strain on you.Why do it if you don`t have to,i would be prepared to pay upwards of £500 for a good 1 that really did work at the same rate that i can reel in by hand or quicker.
