Ok, without giving your idea away, what power is the motor that is used?

Is it 12volt, and what is the amperage?

Would it be a case of one reel in in the morning, and you've sapped your battery for the rest of the day for the pump etc?

Jay.
i run it off a 12v battery and by no means does it drain the battery. i usually charge battery every couple of days depending on usage.not sure of amperage. dont want to give secret away jay as u say

There’s obviously a strong interest and probably a big enough paying market for this.

Hope you can bring it to the market, I would give it a try and I know at least one other who will definitely buy one to try as well.

Good luck

thanks ewan at the minute i would not try an sell one like i use but def goin to develop the idea. it would be no good if i sold u product which was hard for u to attach to your own reel. a wee bit of work is needed bot i will def let u know about it

It`s another thing you don`t have to do and all these things make your day easier,it`s not just 1 thing it`s a combination of pulling and pushing that put un needed strain on you.Why do it if you don`t have to,i would be prepared to pay upwards of £500 for a good 1 that really did work at the same rate that i can reel in by hand or quicker.

£500 :-* :-* :-*

It would have to be a patented quality product,i wouldn`t pay that sort of money for something put together in a shed.

yeh i understand i hopefully will be fit to design this product to highest quality. my own is as u say put together in the shed but it still works 100%.

is there anywhere u can buy spare parts for the reel own its own?

Paul
you are not going to be able to develop this as a proper product, and many on here could find a way to do it if they wanted too. You might as well tell him, even if it is via email. He might come up with something that could help you.

If I thought it was viable I would try and sell the clutches for the spindle but no one's that interested that I can see.

If you patent it it will have to have 1 thing even if it`s something silly to make it unique otherwise it will get copied, there are electric reels out there don`t forget.

You need to take off the handle and you will need to get a part from scewfix for holding the nut in place in the drill.

Just an idea. Use a hosereel with bearings fitted (i.e.Ionics has bearings fitted on spindles same as redashe hosereels) Attach a cam belt, pulley belt, washing machine belt, etc and attach it to a 12volt (car) motor of some kind with a variable speed reducing on/off switch. Write off to Scrapheap challenge asking if they can get their eccentric boffins to come up with a stupid idea ;D
