I have been using the slx since it went on sale. My view is same the as PJ on this one. I have had no problem with the claps they are very good and strong.

The pole is very ridged and light as a feather to use.

However I dont use it all the time, as I use cheap xtel 3 x 1meter for most jobs, yes they are like using a fly fishing rod but they are cheap to replace.

All in all monney well spent.

Roy :)

The brush questions and answers are totally relevent to this thread, this pole is seriously under performing due to no desent brush for it.I`m not using mine at the moment due to this brush issue.

Have to totally disagree, vikan rectangular on mine & it's the biz!! Can't do with wafer brushes myself.

Seriously under performing due to a brush that only weighs a few gramms more than you like is total nonesense. ;)

Well these replies so far are partly why I don't post much on here.

suddenly, uninvited.... we're into brushes!

Talk about brushes on your own flipping topics ::)!

I may join in. ::)

It's not just your topic, unless you want to ask questions and answer them yourself.
Sorry about that, my sense of humour is too dry even for me at times ;)

(sorry but I can't be bothered with a video)

Pj

Says it all really!! ;)

Not really Mr Groundhog.  The decorator's diy pole needs a video by your goodself to demonstrate what you're on about, and judging by your following you have done that ably!

The SL-X however hardly needs the likes of humble me to display on video as it is designed and sold by a bespoke windowcleaning supplier who I'm sure has videos on the website.  You see it doesn't need much further explanation as it is for windowcleaners.  Expensive?  Yes, but there are reasons for that, just the same as there are reasons why the decorators pole is cheap!

Wait until you use it with a proper light brush and then you`ll see what i mean.

This is a very good SLX thread because it's less efffusive than some of the others. Champions of the SLX don't do it any good by enthusing like schoolgirls and making exagerated claims.

I don't know why the harris keeps cropping up. It's cold on the hands in winter, the clamps are arkward, and it's closed lenght is too long. It's not as good as an xtel, and the time cost of mods is greater.

This is a valid point, but there is a very distinct difference between tools that are cobbled together by a diy enthusiast and those developed and tested by dedicated (using that term in a general sense) windowcleaning suppliers.
For example: the case in point - if the SL-X was to be faulty in use cleaning windows, you ring the supplier and the supplier in this case unhesitatingly fixes the problem either under warranty or if it is beyond that date for an agreed fee.  - if the decorators pole doesn't perform on the job or something goes wrong you contact the supplier he tells you it's a decorators pole!  You throw it away and get another one for £15 and rebuild it.
False economy may spring to mind??

Hi PJ, I'm glad that your happy with your slx pole, I'm also more than happy with my Harris pole! I have 2 of them and they both work perfectly, and with all due respect I would have to throw away at least 30 of them before it became a false economy!!!  ;)

How is the slx wearing so far?

One user said it was giving off black dust and he was getting grey hands.  Thinking of making a purchase and want to spend my cash wisely.

It would be a very wise investment, the pole is superb & a credit to it's developers. I havent used my carbon facelift since i got my hands on the sl-x.

Wear?  not a problem, this pole is built to last. even though it's very light, the carbon tube walls are quite thick in construction. I personally don't look after my poles :-[ they are my workhorse & purchased to make my life easier & work faster. The clamps are excellent, low drag & quick to use (although it may take a couple of days to get used to the unique design). As already said, the balance of the pole is second to none, weight, rigidity & length (open & closed) puts it in a league of it's own IMO.

In 6 weeks of using the sl-x i've closed open hinged windows with it, turned it upside down & closed top sash windows (with butt end), bent it through juliet style balcony railings (sorry alex) & used it EXCLUSIVLEY for all windows up to 30ft. there isn't one bottom window on my whole round that i can't easily do with the sl-x. I carry only one pole now in the van apart from the odd time i need more than 30ft.

IMO the price tag of around 400+vat is serious value for money for such a valuable tool.

You may be getting a bit confused there.  One did say he got a little black dust, only one though, I haven't.
Someone else said they were getting grey hands from the decorators pole.
Buy both!  Then you can get to find out for yourself - and at £15 when you've finished with Harris you can sling it.

Thanks guys,

I know what it means for macmac to say he's not picked up his facelift since, along the same lines as to when squeaky went over to wfp, a BIG DEAL.

This was the post I was thinking about.

He's (bonzer) local to me anyway so I'll probably see him and ask.

Thanks Simon.

what's the point in putting down the harris?  Because loads of people have saved a load of money buying one, except you?

The harris pole does it's job as a pole (whether it was meant for paint rollers or not!)

That's like saying you would prefer to pay 10 times as much for a "window cleaning brush" because the Vikan brushes were originally made for automotive cleaning trades.  (oh wait, some would!) :-X

Suckers!

 ;)

Did I mention that I use an alloy pole too?  Not harris but similar to the Unger, been using it for 15 years on and off trad, also occasionally wfp - but can't be bothered setting it up.

I also use 18' G/f 12' g/f even 4' g/f.
