I’m looking at new vans to replace my 2013 custom limited.

Prices for the newer customs are absolutely mad at the moment.

It must be the grants and money millions of self employed have got loose in their pockets.

Add to that a massive increase in delivery drivers and wallah, you’ve got huge demand for vans.

It’s really annoying to be honest, as it’ll only last a few more months, then there will be a crash (no pun intended) as things return to some normality and the money stops rolling in from the government!

Prices for Ford and VW are generally high, but other makes look decent value whenever I have looked on Autotrader recently. I always think around Christmas/New Year is a good time to to buy.

Think you've hit the nail on the head there.

The price of used small vans has also shot up and I doubt couriers and delivery drivers are using them.
If it were self employed buying new vans then the price of old ones might drop as there would be a glut.
It's all a bit confusing.

another market for vans is people converting them into campers, this has increased prices
A manager is generally someone who has been promoted to the position by someone else who didn't see them as a threat.
Hence all people are promoted to the level of their incompetence

Mate of mine has a used van sales company, he has between 150-200 vans in stock at any time.

He says he’s now selling double the amount of vans than he was doing pre-Covid, upto 100 vans a month he’s shifting. 😳

He reckons it’s mainly a mixture of people using the bounce back loan to upgrade their vans, aswell as a huge amount of people out of work/furloughed setting something up on the side.

It should settle down but who really knows for sure.

That’s exactly it mate, bounce back loans are being used to upgrade vans. That’s what I’m looking to do myself 👍🏼

Lots of things have gone up, just supply and demand.

I was looking at building a home gym in the garage, but you cant get hold of anything anywhere online all out of stock and weights etc are selling for double to triple shop prices second hand on ebay.

I paid £8900 for my truck in june, someone offered me 10.5k for it the other week.

If people are upgrading then their old vans come into the system. I think you might be right about startups. That will probably taking up smaller vans and pushing up prices.

And also the ULEZ zone extension in October means a upgrade for many.
So many factors.

I just got a 64 plate Doblo - it has been hard going getting a van - nothing local they are selling very quickly - I would out it down to the vast increase of amazon and Hermes delivery drivers and also just eat and deliveroo expansion
peolple need to earn and this is a quick way to start earning.

we get around 7 different drivers most days dropping off parcels - last year it was 2 sometimes 3

Turbo time will either be oil directly underneath the turbo or no warning if you look in the mirror you’ll think you’ve just left a Cloud ☁️.

My old man has the same model and his turbo went last year with absolutely no trace that it had gone .
Recon unit is £900 from fiat but I haven’t been shopping yet .

Do you think my turbo could have been adversely affected by Covid  ;D
