It used to be that if an employee was off sick he would bring me a sick note and I'd use that to claim his statutory sick pay back from the paye bill. That's been scrapped now and I need to cover it.

Self employed people have very little in the way of rights.

I have just had 4 weeks off work after a gallbladder operation,  and asked the same question. The answer is nothing.
I know that what you didn't want hear but that's reality.
If you are on benefits for low earnings though, you might get something from them.

Not if your self employed, that's was one of the arguments for paying less National Insurance, no sick pay.

Change your name to Tony Soprnosky, works in out town. Get given a house too if you're lucky.

Can you not still claim statutory sick pay ? Had a knee op about 8 years ago and was signed off by doctor for two weeks. I claimed statutory sick pay - was only about £70 PW  though  :(

Contact hmrc and enquire.
I was off work for a couple of months due to an operation some years ago. Ive forgotten what the department is that you claim with, its alot of paperwork though and wanting to know everything about you. Im sure they only do that to put people off claiming. It might take a while but they back date it to when you made the claim. So the faster your on it the better
