Gardiner Poles Scratching Top Sills
« on: September 02, 2014, 02:58:42 pm »
Hi All - Some advise please.  for the last 10/12 months I have been using Gardiner poles, however, I have recently had customers telling me they think that the brush/pole is scratching their top sills.  1 particular customer yesterday is not happy and have advised that he feels it is my equipment that has damaged his sill and showed me black scratch marks on all of his top floor sills (2 story house)  the bottom sills are fine.  I have a white brush head that is meant for sills and just wondered if anyone else had experienced this as this one customer is not happy and asked me to tell him how I am going to sort the problem out or should he claim from me.

If it is the pole/brush that is scratching them each time what would you advise?  has anyone else had problems with Gardiner poles doing this (I previously had Ionics and didn't have this problem).
Welcome comments and experience?

Thanks

They will fit your Gardiners brush. You may need to place the bumper in very hot water first then press it on to brush.

Used correctly a pole and sill brush should not cause any scratching or damage to the sill on a window as the components are designed to not to come into contact with the sill. Of course this will depend on which product is being used, on what type of window it is and how the product is being used.

A good start, so that I can offer some further thoughts on possible causes would be a photo of the alleged damage, the window itself and the property with the window shown on it. Also if you could let me know which pole it is you are using, along with the exact gooseneck used on the brush.

As a side point the brush bumpers do not currently fit the Sill brush range.

Funnily enough, I was doing a wooden framed window house today and was wondering if they are planned.  Alex?

They are, but we need to do a couple of tweaks to the Sill stock design first before we can get them to fit and stay on properly.

Get some pvc cleaner and clean the black marks of

Astonish paste works fine.

With regard to op. How many houses have you got the problem with?

We had a couple of complaints about the same on bottom sills because my son insists on scrubbing the bottom of the window from the side which means the edge of his brush runs up and down the sill.

However, no complaints on top windows as he can't do that.

We have also noticed that there are 'scratch' lines in some sills that originate from the extruding process when the sills are first made/formed, so were there before the windows were fitted.

thanks for all your comments.  I will give the UPVC Cleaner a try and Astonish and see if they come out.  Hard to say how long they have been like that as only just been made aware of them by 1 particular customer that isn't happy and asked what we are going to do about it, and as using a white sill brush can only assume coming from the brush head, however, we have changed the brush and put bumpers on now and will try and see if cleaning them with the above works :  thanks for  all the positive advice and ideas
