Ok I'm gonna bite ... Why didn't you just post with a title along lines of “hey here's an idea send out automated emails” instead of do you have a sales funnel.

Maybe I'm suspicious but get feeling that you will be pitching to members on here with a service or training course that will be based om your market research you've been doing on here recently.

If your giving your ideas away for free then great I will apologise now but I rekon some straight talking from you instead of the ambigious questions will see a better reception to your posts.

I suggested to Mrs 101 that she may like to automate the process of cooking my dinner every night and I would give her my funnel to help with process.

I'm currently waiting in the A and E of our local NHS walk in and casket out establishment to have the funnel removed from my a rse.

I've jumped from page 1 to page 5.

Sales funnel?

What type of ludicrous and pathetic sales jargon is that?

How about plain English and a heading for the topic that says what it is and not some type of fancy mean nothing type of lip speak waffle.

Sorry to sound rude but I go off the deep end with that type of garbage language.

i answered a post on here a few weeks ago,i think it was titled"are you running a business" or something along those lines.
i answered,in my opinion, that a "sole trader is one step up from a job" and"one step down from a business"

window cleaning is a very simple business, yes we have hot water, gutter vacs, etc but in the main its about a service you carry out,you get paid, you earn an income, you pay your tax(debatable?) and for a lot of window cleaners thats as far as it will go,maybe they will have a part timer with them and thats when they it a ceiling and they have to make a choice, stay as they are or push through to the next level

I INCLUDE MYSELF IN THE ABOVE ;D

The next level

Then we have a more business minded window cleaner, richy wilts, richard(i sparkle) lee pryors etc who will build a business, they will employ and grow accordingly, they spend ££££ on leaflets, websites, canvassers etc etc and words like S.W.O.T,SALES FUNNEL etc become their new tools much the same as going from CLX to SLX and thats exactly what it is a tool to be used to help you grow a bit like viagra

i await all criticisms (i think thats how you spell it)

Very well summed up mate, spot on.

I guess its for those who like to call themselves something that theyre not.

Vision technician and all that. Have to say I agree with Ross.

Personally I think Ian knew full well where the thread was likely to be going when he started, there is an option for 'Dont know what youre talking about'. In other words, this is likely to be over most peoples heads and I know it. I guess it would have been fine on a different forum, but considering most of us are likely to say it as we see it; maybe thats the nature of the beast; and this kind of stuff doesn't generally cut much ice with folks on here someone was going to come out with how it is eventually.

Perhaps Ian would like to nominate himself here and learn from his mistakes.

For me window cleaning is a relatiely cheap and quite profitable business.

So why make it complicated, if you have more time get more window cleaning customers.

Not carpet cleaning, patio cleaning, guttercleaning.

I've already got the equipment to clean windows, yes maybe my customers would like their carpets or patio cleaned.
But I don't want to be a dog chasing two rabbits.

Just my thoughts.
I only real add on i do is connie roof cleaning, or very rarely facia cleaning, already got the gear for that.

Its whatever is best for your business isnt it.

To a point I agreed with you, but recently I am spending a lot of money on expanding my business and am at the point where I will very soon need to start paying VAT.  All that expanding is expensive, and when VAT kicks in (at the same time when i need a new full timer) I will take a massive drop in earnings...  until i can expand beyond it.

if you want to runa simple business with a great life style...  window cleaning can offer you that

if you want to run a bigger business where you are office based and with limitless (ish) expansion possiblities, window cleaning can offer you that also.

So long as you know what you are aiming for, you can build your business to suit yourself

I can only assume from your vote choices Ian that you are looking to assess how switched on 'window cleaners' are, generally, to the sales and marketing side of their business?

I haven't found a need for an automated system yet as our window cleaning business is a little young and we're not even close to geographic saturation. Naturally I have all the canvassing data and I operate an old style 'call cycle' but we're not at a point where I need to put it in place.

Is there an automated system you recommend?

'Sales funnel' is standard terminology in the sales and marketing industry, there really isn't anything "complicated" about it. The window cleaning industry also has terminologies that a layperson might consider complicated... but hey, that's why we have a forum right? So we can share our experiences and ideas to help improve what we do and increase our profitability?

Straight forward answer I didn't think I needed to Ross that's why!

I thought most people would know what it is I wanted to know how many used one (my error ) I did add the third option to cover that just incase ( not like matt tried to make out) of course I expected some flack thats path of the course of ciu when i post, yea sometimes I do post sometimes to invoke reaction  I love banter too like most guys on here this wasn't meant to be one of them times
Posting something other than the weather or just everyday stuff we all get, it would be very boring don't you think?

I like to learn new things I'm not scared to post about them, if I want to know an answer to a question I ask.

One good thing more people now know what a sales funnel is than before this post was made  ;D

Out of this post I helped a couple of guys, I learnt many don't use a sales funnel there are a few more people that I like the way they think so will follow their posts more from now. Maybe you didn't get anything out of it maybe others did.

Enjoy your weekend :)

right ross this my answer to yours or someone elses question, feck knows I have had a few,

but this is my taking on it all, if you run a business that rely's on extra work then get a funnel, but if you just fill your round to the gunnels with window cleaning as window cleaners should do, then there is no need :-\ i have someone nipping my my head for a car port cleaning job right now I don't want and I am buggered if I want to encourage more of the same, I just want to clean my existing customers by christmas and be done with it

Ah... I get it.

You mean I need to be selective about what work I take on, if at all, rather than just say yes to anything.

But I do that already and after a few years experience, probably most window cleaner on here do also.
