Last thing on the list
« on: September 12, 2012, 10:06:45 pm »
Right after picking up machine( then fixing it) chemicals van, insurance ect I'm in need of a scrubber, now I've got about £70 left of my budget :( would've had more but had to buy 2 new vacs for machine, so I'm thinking of trying to find either a old scrubber or a sebo duo secound hand to start of with, does anyone have any ideas where I can get one of these at this cheap price?? Ive tried eBay ect but not sure if there's another company or site out there that does cheap scrubbers. I know I'm pushing it trying to find one at this price but........

Just make do with a pile brush for now. Sebo's and the such have only been used for about the last 8 years and before that the good old pile brush was what most people used. Keeps you fit as well.

Do a google search for cheap scrubbers, I bet you don't see much carpet cleaning equipment ;D

You think that's the last thing on your list?  Wake up man, your list is never ending and this is just the beginning.  If you can't afford to spend the right money on the right kit I'd suggest you re-evaluate things :)

People take out £40k or more bank loans to start a business.  Not saying everyone needs to do that to get going in this industry but f***ing around trying to work with pocket change is gonna get you nowhere slowly.

Having been through the start-up process recently I have to agree with you Neil - the list of costs, kit and outgoings continues long after you think you're ready...

agree with John, pile brush. Dan you will always be upgrading so just get started and get on with it. We all started with lesser equipment but we did'nt know it was lesser or could'nt afford better stuff. work ethic and integrity will carry you much further than equipment.

Cheers for the advice again guys, picked up a couple of carpet brushes today for £12 each brand new, I know what your saying jim but we've all got to start somewhere mate, budget was only a rough one anyway, just didn't really want to overshoot the budget by much, so that's it got everything i need, I done the ncca two day course for a old company I used to work for but I'm guessing I'll have to do the course again so I can advertise as ncca qualified with my own ncca number?

Why do you want to advertise NCCA trained and have your own number??

How many of your customers will have heard of ncca?

probably 1 in a blue moon............ and we have just had one of those..  :P :P

do a cheaper course to refresh yourself if you need to......  :-\

And get out there and earn  ;D ;D

Yeah I suppose, just thought it would look abit more professional, but like you say how many people have heard of ncca?? Don't need to do a refresher course really as I've been doing the job for nearly 8 years. I suppose tomorrow will be my first leaflet drop day.

the round end of a wooden spoon to push the leaflet in  works well...
keeps the fingers out of the mouths of beloved pets... and doesn't rip the leaflet...
