Wilkinsons or Boots sell it, shake the bottle and if it foams then it's not 100%.

You could try print suppliers.

We used to use it to expose Dyeline drawings and I'm sure its still used.

I got mine from Alltec but this was a while back so not sure if they still do it.
It's not expensive, you just can't afford it.

What do you use ammonia for?

Stain removal I guess but

How do you use it? what mix etc and on what stains?

Not something I've ever come across but I'm really getting into stain removal, had some amazing results with met s lately, was scared to death of it for years.

I've got some 'Magic' stain remover from Woodbridge, you mix the 2 chemicals together and I presume it makes ammonia ( that's what it smells of ). Can't say I'm  that impressed with it, especially at the price of it.

Does anyone know how is it best used and on what?

strongest I can find is 25% and I doubt very much that it will be strong enough for wood stain. What strength do you have Brian?

Andy, Ammonia is a strong alkali spotter it normally is used as accelerator when using oxidising bleaches. it can also be used as a booster with other alkali pre-sprays, it used to be popular in the states in upholstery presprays.

it can be used (with limited success in my opinion) to correct acid dye indicator problems on  fabrics or as a neutralizer for reducing bleaches.

Hi Guys

Pete, the max amount of ammonia soluble in water is about 30% so your 25% will be quite concentarted.

I would try it!

Concentrated ammonia is often called 880 Ammonia.

Cheers
