Quote from: Matt3 on December 16, 2010, 08:48:51 pmI need 2 window cleaners to service a new round i have bought so i contacted the job center and stated that i need them to be over 25 with a clean license (for reasonable van insurance). They said that unless my insurance document states this (which is doesnt as i dont have fleet insurance as i insure each van with the window cleaner as a named driver) then that is classed as discrimination. I said ok take that out of the advert then , they said no we cant do that as because you have said this to me now and these calls are recorded you cannot advertise these vancies at the job center!!!!! It beggars belief that with unemployment as high as it is and as a genuinue and reputible company that requires 2 staff on a full time basis that the job center refuses to advertise my vacancies over this ...... i think this country has gone mad .... i cannot belive that this mindless beuracracy is getting in the way of 2 worthy and unemployed individuals getting a decent job with long term prospects I thought you already had a 2 man person team lined up for this. Did that bit fall through in the end or are these two additional cleaners?I hope that by mentioning "two" I'm not guilty of discriminating against odd numbers.

So it is a low odd number of window cleaning persons that i might or might not need
age shouldnt be an issue, I started most of my guys at average 18 years old. If it costs a few more quid to employ someone by way of insurance, so be it.I would never let the age get in the way, first and foremost, I look at the character of the person everything else is secondry

Is this not the case with you Dave?
