Job center not accepting my vacancies!!
« on: December 16, 2010, 08:48:51 pm »
I need 2 window cleaners to service a new round i have bought so i contacted the job center and stated that i need them to be over 25 with a clean license (for reasonable van insurance). They said that unless my insurance document states this (which is doesnt as i dont have fleet insurance as i insure each van with the window cleaner as a named driver) then that is classed as discrimination. I said ok take that out of the advert then , they said no we cant do that as because you have said this to me now and these calls are recorded you cannot advertise these vancies at the job center!!!!! It beggars belief that with unemployment as high as it is and as a genuinue and reputible company that requires 2 staff on a full time basis that the job center refuses to advertise my vacancies over this ...... i think this country has gone mad .... i cannot belive that this mindless beuracracy is getting in the way of 2 worthy and unemployed individuals getting a decent job with long term prospects :( >:( ???

got told by a bloke who works at the dole, whos windows i do,  that you can no longer ask them if they have any days sick or illnesses,  soon you wont be able to ask age, sex,  as this can be classed as discrimination

Put a wanted ad on your local gumtree for your exact criteria and trust me you will get at least 50 people apply for the jobs via e-mail - so you don't even have to speak to them all, you can then pick and choose which ones you want to interview.  ;D

you cant ask age now on first interview as could discriminate against it, it cant even be put on application form, sometimes wonder wheather its just best as a one man band, the way i see it, with so many obstacles and red tape you either need to be one man band or a loads of employees, any inbetween and its hard to keep up with changing regulations, i bet there are lots of companies not complying with regs purley cause they cant keep up with them.

what lie?

i think he was quite right to determine for himself the age restrictions for the people who will be driving his vans, maybe he was not aware of the regulations and the wording on his policy?

even if he was i think anyone should have the right to determine who is going to drive their vans, after all its his van and his business.

when i lived up north the was a bloke going around blackburn and that area,  pretending to have learning diff  asking for jobs,  when they said no and didnt give him a application form he then sued them for discrimination, as his lawyers argued they wouldnt give him a application form as he had learn diff and any one else would of got on,

apprently even if you have no jobs you have to give an application form out

A conclusion I came to a long time ago

Question  How come you never see jobs advertised for a lot of Council jobs, like the staff who work in Jobcentres and like?

becasue to get one, u either need to a university muppet with no life experience, or disabled,  i got told becasue i had a back injury i am guaranteed a job interview with the dole if i applied, as they have to give interviews to people who might not get main stream employment

A mate of mine who was made redundant from the airport has been trying to get a job on the council for over two years. He's not fussy what he does, dust anything.
Yet when I am out cleaning windows and the dustcarts come round the dustmen are all really young Eastern European lads rabbiting away in their own language.

In the council offices its rare to see a white face among the staff. Its quite a high immigrant area but not that high. It looks to me like its not a level playing field anymore.

i am no lawyer, but even i can see that he never directly stated that his insurance stipultes that, he simply stated that he wants to pay less for his premiums, and he has every right to do so. 8)

I thought you already had a 2 man person team lined up for this.  Did that bit fall through in the end or are these two additional cleaners?
I hope that by mentioning "two" I'm not guilty of discriminating against odd numbers.

I don't know what post you're reading; he didn't say that.  Show me the words where he even implied that his insurers said they had to be over 25.
