Cheers for that advice . Tried a spare battery and exactly the same problem . All connections seem good . If it was a connection , surely it would still turn off while I was holding the on button . Don’t mind buying a new controller but it’s down time . Drive to my local shop , get it fitted . Get to work , that’s a morning gone . Might seem a daft question . But has it got owt to do with the shurflow pump 100psi with that controller ?

Definitely sounds like the controller.

As you say, the pump with a missing or failed pressure switch can't be used without the controller.

Personally, I would take a couple of days off and order another Spring derived controller asap.

The early controllers (Varistream & Spring) were pretty robust. Failures were mainly due to water ingress or connecting the battery up incorrectly (reversed polarity.) We did see a Varistream failure once reported by a poster with a burnt connector at the PC board.

The latest V16 Spring controllers do have built in reversed polarity protection.

My experience is that Daqua.co.uk have been very reliable with their next day deliveries.

Spring controllers have always worked very well with Shurflo pumps, so I wouldn't suspect a compatability problem.

same as above..... Also, I always charge more for the first clean, this usually covers it.
some of my older work , is underpriced.  however it is also some of my best , because its compact.

that's the problem with a "Quote" rather than an estimate - strictly speaking you should honour the price where an estimate can result in the price going up or down.

If it were me I would carry out the cleans - £4 x 5 properties is hardly breaking the bank is it ? - do 6 cleans then increase the price to bring them into line with your other work - depending on the canvasser agree he only receives 50% for them or nothing  or gets full price but provides replacement FOC - I'm sure that would more than cover the "loss"

Window Cleaning Forum / Underquoted job, best way/time to convert to higher price?
« Last post by jo5hm4n on April 27, 2024, 09:51:15 pm »
So we have been using a local door knock canvasser recently.  This is his 3rd canvas for us.

2 lots of canvassing so far no issues with underpriced jobs at all.

Today though he was in an area with large bay windows old style houses, i did explain to him but he still underquoted.  5 jobs in total underpriced by £4 at least.  Priced at £22 when they should be £26-£27 etc.

Hes already agreed to to either knock those customers off the bill, or just give them to me at discounted rates.

Hes back out tomorrow and said lesson learned and he will try and get higher prices for these style houses.

Anyway my thoughts are this.  Yes the jobs are underpriced by £4, but what is the best way to try and convert these into regular priced jobs.   My thoughts are as follows.

A) i text all 5 customers explain that sadly the jobs have been slightly underpriced and that we can still clean for them, but the price will be X amount extra and we apologise for this mistake on our end when quoting the job.

B) do the cleans at agreed price, do say 2-3 cleans so the customer builds trust with us, gets to know our cleaners, the service we offer and is happy with us, and then after a few cleans i text them and explain that after a few cleans we have realised we slightly under priced the job, we do apologise for this but if they wish to continue using our service it will be £2 extra per clean etc.

I dont want to just bin the customers off, we are doing lots of growth and canvassing so ideally i would like to try one of the above options or something similiar just to see more than anything what is possible with customers, so that should we get any more underpriced work in future, if i know a better way to deal with it and get a good outcome then its happy days.

Thoughts?  Any other ways to do it?  ;D

I was in Screwfix and they shouted out their wifi was down, so cash only. I was only one left in the shop. Cash will always be king so said King Charles and he should know.

I went food shopping the other week and forgot my wallet(never done this before).I thought no problem I'll just pay with my phone.it wouldn't work as tesco had made a computer update the night before!🤣

I had to leave my shopping there and nip home and get my wallet

I normally have both, cash and card

Pressure switch is disconnected on the pump . I bought the pump 15 years ago off a mate as a spare  for my van mount . Never needed it 15 years and the original pump is still going strong . How’s that for value for money . So put it on the trolley as the pumps that come on the nanos don’t last that long . Don’t seem as powerful ,

If you connect the pump via a fuse directly to the battery it should run at full speed if the pumps OK.
If the pumps pressure switch is working then you could work with the pump directly connected to the battery (via fuse) and your univalve/ tap would shut the pump off via the pressure switch. It's not a great way to work but could get enable you to carry on working for the day.

Cleaning panels with steel pads sounds iffy. Wonder why he doesn’t just put a scaff tower up so he can reach it properly and see what he’s doing?

I would buy one if I was a solo window cleaner.
