What would you do.
« on: Yesterday at 11:04:08 am »
I made the mistake of forgetting to take my large bottle of water with me on Monday.

As we are aware it was a really hot day.    I had a very large property to do first thing, very rural out in the sticks with nothing else around .  The job takes 3 hours to do.

I am surprised how many customers never bother to offer a drink particularly in this dangerous heat including this one.  He treats his dogs better.

I approached the customer who was wondering about his land to ask politely if I could have a glass of water.   He snoberly said NO and walked off.  I was gob smacked and plodded on dehydrated and flaked out.  I was tempted to just pack up and go, but I would have lost out on the work I had already done.

Should I dump or keep?  Remember it's a big contract.  What would you do?

( Oh, and I don't like to risk drinking from my water tank either)

Don’t forget your water bottle and don’t ask the miserable old fool for a drink again. If it’s a well paying job I’d keep it.

Without a shadow of doubt I would sack him, what really annoys me about people with money is that clearly think there better than us working people just because they have money, what I often find with wealthy people is that they are rude, ingnorant, and have no manners.
That type of person wants to own you and your family and call all the shots.

I would tell him to fxxk off and poke his job up his rude ignorant arsx

Just my opinion not saying I’m right

And on bonfire night put a banger in his letter box

Normally women offer a drink on hot days but men tend to be less thoughtful of dehydration on hot days.

Stinking rich people are very nice people, it's the ones who think they have money with flashy car and up to their eyeballs in debt who are full of themselves, disrespectful of others.

My first instinct is that i would not of asked. Given his rather sh***y reply i'd also reckon i would of second guessed that coming and defininatley not asked. He's probably never been friendly or concerned or even passed the time of day i'll bet.

Oh, and i'd just carry on and do the job. I wouldn't lose (presumably) a good paying job because i forgot to take water with me on a hot day.

We clean the windows of a customer who is now well off. It's a big job and we have never been offered a drink by her. It's just the kind of person she is.

She used to have a couple of cleaners cleaning inside the house on the same day we were there and she always made them coffee at some point during the morning.
We were there for 2.5 hours (x2) every 4th Friday.

But that's ok. We bring our own water/coffee so we don't need her charity.

I wouldn't dump the job because of her attitude towards us plebs.

There's a big difference between not being offered a drink and actually refusing to give you one, particularly when you were polite enough to specifically ask for water. I would have walked off the job, its the principal of the thing. Its only money. I wouldnt dream of turning down a request for water from someone doing a job for me.

We are cleaning to make money. Running a business. If the job is well paid there is absolutely no sense in sacking it off....

No need to take it so personally. We all have some stuffy customers that are selfish and rude but I'll still take their money all day long 💰

I always look on the flipside too....the good customers far outweigh any of the selfish ones...

Same when I lose money(for whatever reason). I think of all the times I've saved money or got a bargain and I find it evens itself out over the years.

I'm not self employed just for money. I'm self employed so I can choose (grammar  ;D) for whom I work.

In the old days I would have flounced (remember that anyone?  ;D) out of there on the spot.

Now I'm mellower I would wait until I got paid and simply not returned.

If he asked me where I was I would explain that I only work for customers that can afford to provide a drink of water.

I cant believe anyone would refuse to give you a drink of water especially in the heat.

I would have put my gear away and gone, probbaly called him a nasty name as well....

I wont tolerate rudeness, theres no need for it, i once turned up a job and got a gob full of a customer because i had parked behind his car, if he had been nice about it i would have apologised and moved....slung my gear back in van,  get f%cked and on my way  :D

Some great replies chaps.

I've decided to drop him.  I won't even bother to let him know.   So if he gets in touch to see where I am, I will just reply with 'NO' 🤣🤣

It really got my back up.  Hottest day of the year so far.    Funny thing was I was listening to the radio while working as the DJ even made a point about offering people working outside a drink.    They were talking about a story where trades person had taken ill on the job from heat exhaustion.

I will always walk away from anyone that has been excessively rude to me.
