Importing gear

I put this up in the general section also.

I am thinking of importing a sx12 and sx7 from the states, all for $1400. I assume it will be plus import tax and vat.

Anybody else done this and do you think its worth it?

I imported a Turbo Hybrid and a Cobra about 18 months ago, at a cost of about $950. It was pretty straightforward. I had to pay about £150 in import taxes, duties and brokerage to UPS. I also had to get a TURN number (trader unique reference number) to get the goods cleared, but UPS pointed me at the right people to sort that.

I would also add that I had a problem with a fitting on the Hybrid after a few months, and I had to get that sorted myself at Pirtek, as I didn't think there was much point trying to get the supplier in the US to fix it for me. There's not much that can go wrong on spinners anyway, so I wouldn't let that worry stop me if I wanted to do it again.

Hope that info helps.  ;)
