Tony Gill picked one up last year in mint condition from Basingstoke for a mere 2 grand.  Saying that though the guy needed it off his van because Prochem was fitting his new one on the Monday morning.

Talk about being in the right place at the right time. ;D

It took me 12 months of looking..ended up with a deal on 2nd hand from Hydramaster...never looked back.

I had to use my porty the other day, forgot how hard work it is, and the results were not as good.

Think if I decide to go TM route I'd opt for the Prowler.
TM and Portable in one machine.
Ask Joe, think it's him who bought one last year.

Yes I got a Prowler 15hp just about 12 month ago.
It is portable in as much as it has wheels, but in reality it stays in the van. Not really the thing to be going in and out of the van daily and with suction for a good 300' of hose - why should it be out of the van?
I use the portable for flats where access can be awkward, and you could really have a petrol engined machine inside buildings anyway in normal circumstances.
I use the Scorpion monthly - sometimes more then once in a week - all depends on how the jobs go.
The 3 vac Scorpion is a good machine, the only regret of having to use the porty is the filling and dumping (time consuming) but if I lost the use of the Prowler tomorrow I would more then likely get a auto fill and auto dump for the Scorpion and live happily.
Yes the Prowler does pack more of a punch then the Scorpion but its still very good. I can appreciate what the guys are saying who have a TM and sometimes go back to  2 vac porty - not something I would look forward to, but 3 vacs is different.

Joe when i read your posts about your Prowler and Scorpion it comes across that the Prowler is the better machine but not buy much i thought the difference would be massive for suction and heat or have i got it wrong, iam looking to get a Prowler in the Future.

I have never used a Prowler but i would imagine that there is a MASSIVE difference regarding vac, water pressure n heat.  I have used a scorpion and it dont compare anywhere near to the power of a truckmount.

From what i saw the Prowler had plenty of heat.

2 years ago, just before the first CCDO, there was a big debate concerning the Scorpion and the Prowler - which was best. There was even talk of a "contest" at CCDO between the two.
I was very interested in this because I had a Scorpion (the 300psi earlier model) and like the reports of the Prowler.
My interest was the price difference - say £3000 for a Scorpion to £5500 (think it was then) for the Prowler - some were saying "its not much dearer" - but I think £2.5k on £3k is a lot dearer.
Anyway, the "contest" never came about.

The upshot is - having worked both machines is that their is a good difference between them
Suction, heat (inline heater with the Scorpion) and convenience.

but my previous post was more about the other comment about moving from a TM to occasional use of what I assume is a 2 vac porty.  I can move back to my 3 vac Scorpion comfortably - I prefer to use the Prowler, but when I have to use the Scorp. it does not bother me. With the right fluids for the condition, and agitation (Envirodri) and dwell, heat if I need it, I have no problem.

What I did say was "Yes the Prowler does pack more of a punch then the Scorpion but its still very good".

What I will say to anyone who has a good budget (cash, lease, borrow....whatever) is go for the Prowler, you wont regret it. After that, its got to be a 3 vac machine.... and I still reckon the Scorpion is the one to beat.
