wfp system in a micra
«
on:

killed my van by filling it up with petrol-too expensive to repair so flogged in on
got a old nissan micra that i just got back on the road to get me by over the next few weeks til i get something else sorted
anyone use one for wfp work or a similar small set up
just wondered what size tank i could get in there safely
going to set it all up over the weekend
ive got a 125l but was a little to big
think of sticking in the boot a 75l and the hose and pump set up
just have to make a couple of trips back home to fill up every day

I would just use a trolley for a few weeks if you have one? I work out of a toyota Aygo, and it seems to get me by.
Once I go full time, ill get myself a van or something

i tried to borrow the mrs mini but she was having none of it
i made a box the same size as a 75l tank i see on ebay to see if it fitted set the system up dry it seemed to fit
i reckon the weight should be ok as well
and can probably stick a few more containers on the seats and distribute the weight around

tank prob out of the question.... but....
I work from a new type Fiat 500. I think it's slightly smaller than a Micra
With back seat down I can take enough drums of water to do up to 6 houses (£60+) and then return to re-load. Two loads a day £120+ / times 5 days = a potential £600 a week.
I take a trolley, 25ft slx, ground floor pole and set of trad gear. I've made a marine ply liner with locations for drums etc. All fits very tidy and chained to main rear seat supports while on the move.
Works ok for me but I'm only needing to top pension up.
Good luck mate

do you need the rear seats in it
if not, whip the rear seat out , you will have enough to put a 250 L in it then, thats only the weight of 2 / 3 bigger adults
you will have to secure the tank, get some racing harness seatbelt bolts and change the seat belt stalk bolts for them, you then have fixing points, you look for other fixing points

theres a lot to be said for the advantage of using a car. especially if you work the council estates . almost my whole biz is on such houses and "the old car image" is a definite bonus. ive got enough wonga to buy a very smart van but i think id lose a lot of my customers if i turned up in one. i could be wrong but it could be an expensive experiment if i bought one such.
besides ,cars are nicer to ride in generally .

could lose the back seats but rigging it up looks like it will all fit in the boot
most of my work is in a 5 mile radius so returning home to fill up aint really a problem
got a 75l tank today put that will battery box containing pump battery and controller my trad gear can go in the back and poles only about ft from front to back
all fits also got room for a couple of barrels on the back seat
UP AND RUNNING AGAIN

pulled up next to a fella today in the garage had a smart car with a wfp set inc tank in the boot
he had the tank fabricated to suit the boot size and a pump box running it he had his poles in a tube on a roofrack very compact the car was sign written and covered in bubbles
great bit of advertising

80l fitted the full width of the boot with2 upstands either side with the filler cap in one
it was like a u shape with the battery box in the middle
built into a Ali cradle
it was very neat and compact
I bet it must have cost a few quid to manufacture
