Another matter, I built up a relationship with someone i met at windex, I am currently doing £20k a year window cleaning for that person.

I have met loads of contacts and I keep my business name out there.

I love the jolly up in the evenings too, I always come back with knowledge bursting out of my ears.

Another reason is to keep abreast with what is happening in the industry, also the seminars are good, this year especially so, i have a few questions what need answering by the Willis boys.

What they have to say couldl have reverbertations around the industry for many years to come.

If you attend as a shrinking violet, you probably wont get anything out of it, if you go with an open mind and are ready to talk to people , you will soon realise 2 days isnt long enough.

Hmmmmmmm what would be in it for me?
Sole trader with too much work to handle. Over fifty years old, hates modern day nvq, method statements, risk assesments and any form of paperwork. Oh and doesn't drink.  :-[

Surely most of the information from seminars etc and new products will surface on this forum anyway? Or is it really a place for the big boys who employ and want to mingle with like minded big boys and talk 'business'?

I'm looking forward to meeting people from companies that we've dealt with over the past year and put a face to a name.  Talking to them about their products and services, also looking at new products from different companies all under one roof, I'm sure it will be a good couple of days. Most of the companies represented there are miles from where we live so we'd never go find out what they have to offer if we didn't get to see them at the show.

I used to go to the boat show when I was mad keen on boats, jet skis and windsurfing. But windowcleaning?
Done the motorbike show too when i wanted one. But windowcleaning? So why?

As for me I am, really,  mad keen on WFP last 3 years. Therefore, I spent all 3 days at the Cleaning Show last year with the great interest and looking forward visiting WindEx-2010 as well.

rgrds,

FTP present company excepted

There is a type of window cleaner who mocks and sn1ggers about Windex.

"ha why should i spend 2 days finding a new pole" etc etc

These are the same types of window cleaner, who come on here and whinge about not being able to pay there tax bill, cant find new customers,

They call other window cleaners for bragging, because they hae no decent jobs themselves, I have been on the receiving end of many when I post about certain acheivements.

These are the ones who usually say "why" or "theres no point"

perhaps these people are know it alls, and know something we dont know.

Trade shows are not for everyone. They are great for the person who is looking to move ahead in the cleaning industry, and wants to see all the products and information that is out there.

Trade shows are a waste of time for the person who is just plodding along and wondering why they are always skint.
Yeah, because having a better pole or a better bit of rubber on your squeegee will mean you will expand tenfold, and gain 50 grand contracts.
Pull the other one mate. ;D

Roger

Maybe, that is the first step to success, not mocking behind your keyboard.

I would listed to Mr Woods carefully, he is a man who is running a £million plus (very conservative) set up.

Not Mr whinge Pants "wonder why I am skint " window cleaner

He was mocking to start with, and people so up their own arse get it back.

I'll say it again then... "Yeah, because having a better pole or a better bit of rubber on your squeegee will mean you will expand tenfold, and gain 50 grand contracts!

Come on then Mr.AlwaysKnowBetter... lets have an answer. ???

did I refer to you.

Rog

You are the only one who mentioned it was just poles.

going to trade shows CAN seriously affect your wealth, the squeegies and poles are just a start, all part of the bigger picture
