Windex Why?
« on: February 20, 2010, 08:31:42 am »
Why do you guys go to trade shows?
Is it an anorak type of thing, or do you go to find a bargain or just to socialise?

Me, I can't think of anything worse than wasting a days earnings, travelling for a couple of hours each way for a bit of pole fondling.
I used to go to the boat show when I was mad keen on boats, jet skis and windsurfing. But windowcleaning?
Done the motorbike show too when i wanted one. But windowcleaning?

So why?

TO START WITH

Come and visit Andy and Dave Willis on Stand B2 Clean Safe Partnership and IMPACT43

We are launching www.competencychecker.com

We can give you information on securing government funding for
City and Guilds NVQ

Come and talk to us and see if you are eligible to secure funding for the much talked about City and Guilds NVQ Level 2 in window cleaning. To date over 400 window cleaners have achieved this and this year our first 200 learners funding is allocated to companies. We are therefore from the show looking to register 200 window cleaners for August

Also there are some great seminars being run by the FWC which includes recent forum topics this year http://www.cleaning43.com/diary%2Devents/

IONICS http://www.windex.co.uk/free-seminars/?/seminar/
11.00 – 11.30 Avoiding repetitive strain injuries from the use of a squeegee
Ionic Systems

12.10 – 14.00 Working at height regulations

Andy Willis I am going to focus on flat roof access and egress and access and egress to work areas from a ladder ….I is sure we can all agree this has been a thread with interest..

But the main reason is to look for new products and quite right what a good opportunity to network.

Trade shows are not for everyone. They are great for the person who is looking to move ahead in the cleaning industry, and wants to see all the products and information that is out there.

Trade shows are a waste of time for the person who is just plodding along and wondering why they are always skint.

Yeah, because having a better pole or a better bit of rubber on your squeegee will mean you will expand tenfold, and gain 50 grand contracts.
Pull the other one mate. ;D

NVQ are brought out so that companys can say that people are trained and know how to do something, weather they do that on the job is a different matter,  it will end up like all the other industries, with out an NVQ u will be classed as an apprentise and get a crap wage,  or insurance will start insisting on it for all staff
