earn far less

You'd be mad to use trad. unless you really have to. Due to the cold I have tradded a bit last week and it was painfully slow compared to wfp.

On Monday, because heavy snow was forecast I wfp'd tops and tradded downstairs and struggled to make £75 in 4 hours - it was awful.

Today, because I know the forecast is for a thaw, I used wfp starting at 12 noon (with a bit of screenwash in the mix) and just put a bit of salt/grit down on a public footpath and splashed a bit of 5:1 screenwash mix from a squeezy bottle on the floor outside the custies doors.

In 4 hours, even with low water flow and  rubbing snow/ice off of the hoses and gritting I managed £133.

Tomorrow I plan a full day wfp, but we shall see.
It's a game of three halves!

You don't know how to price trad than malc ;) You've cut yourself short by pricing too cheap wfp?

I don't do trad except in extremis macmac - and you can see the difference in the earnings over 4 hrs on similar properties - £75 vs £133. When I was trad in normal non icy conditions I would do about £20/25 ph on these properties - the same stuff wfp in non icy conditions now earns me £40 ph.

No brainer really ... it's like changing from driving steam engines to driving diesels - the tradition isn't there but it's a lot less labour intensive and quicker.

You must be very quick with wfp.
I'd worry about leaving it done properly if I went too fast. You have to do it properly, you can't get away with a mistake like with trad.

Trad I was doing about £20-23 p/h
Wfp I'm more like £25-30 p/h

I dread to think what trad would bring in now compared to WFP, maybe Ive become too used to earning what is a very very attractive hourly rate by anyones standard.

I am inclined to suggest that Golds hourly rate WFP is perfectly attainable from my own experience and what other polers suggest who are worth listening to.

does your hose not freeze on the floor though?

Mine? No, that's the main reason for the screenwash. Used it today because of all the snow/ice still around even though it was 3 degrees (warm-ish)

Must be grumpy with lack of sleep after working all night and day last 3 weeks :D (only messin, gary :))

I've had no probs today in the falling snow (-1). I've been using a screenwash mix that'd done the trick and it was fine.

Tim is this the idea from barry80.

1 litre mix in twenty stir well  ;)

Yep. Works great.

I use both methods, both have got pros and cons. What does my head in though is all these wfp guys slating trad. I have only used ladder since week before christmas due to ice. Wfp is a no no with ice. Trad is do-able just got to be careful and if its dodgy dont do it. Dazmond dont bother with wfp its not worth the hastle.
