I thought this admin job was just that. Admin, not MOD. It's not for a window cleaning forum though, it's for CIU. They will give the position to someone who can do "Joined up writing" and knows how to use crayons safely. Good luck lads. ;D

It occured to me today to wonder what revenue streams or business models could be copied and the answer was surprising.Mikey boy heres an early christmass present.

First off if you are going to copy, copy somebody smart, and just about the smartest guy on the planet at this stuff is steve jobs as he is both an apple and a disney boss. If like me you've got a kid you probably know about club penguin a disney portal that children can enjpy free but get enhanced benefits from subscription payment. Basically they kit out a penguin and an igloo with household stuff that they are able to buy with points they earn. This achieves status amongst their peers and a sence of achievment as they deck out the igloo with all the latest gadgets.

So using this as the analogy ciu could offer a virtual wc round business where you have to biuld a customer base, obtain a system, and operate in a virtual system and are able to compete against other window cleaners for market share. Some might go the virtual franchise route, others get a few vans on the road. There will always be the slackers of course who will work three days a week and think that's enough.

Not me ...

But I'll be a mod when one of the others is on holiday if they want me - ambitious aren't I?
It's a game of three halves!

so its taken you all day to think of that  ;D ;D, a online window cleaning game where you have to expand your round / biz and take on staff to feel like your life is important and a success

i have been out to center parcs today, left the house at 9 and back at 7.30, took the children to see father christmas, lots of pool time, had a meal in the sports bar which just happened to be at the same time and the cardiff football game live on sky, great to see my 6yr old chanting at the big screen whilst some liverpool "fans" looked on

top day out

All this talk about revenue streams for the forum is a bit depressing. Yes I know CIU could actually make some serious money for its admin if run right,.. just look at WCR for an example, its a much smaller forum but tied into a shop & used to promote their products. The guys there are friendly & helpful,.... but it still doesn't have the same "Feel" as an independent forum,.. & I much prefer the independent ones.

The topic is admin and the aim is revenue and to put some purpose into this aimless platform for the vires of a  collection of gas bags.
It hasn't taken me all day matt, i've been working on the market- earning money.

I honestly don't think there is "serious money" to be made with this site.  After all, that advertising space has been available for ages now, and nobody has bothered to take it up.  Eventually they had to put google ads on there, which says it all really.

After all who would pay?  Big suppliers like ionics shun these forums, so I can't see them advertising, and they havent upto now.

And since nobody is ever going to pay to join a forum, I just dont see where income can come from.

if there was a paid for service on here, I am sure many would pay a fee for it, I would, and do on other forums. it works well IMO

this would be a start, also a few other things could be done, this would make ciu money and also make it a better info portal with facts

Oh, and if we were paying be able to have a proper moan at the mods instead of praising them up all the time.

the " enhanced members " thing works in 2 ways , it creates a little money ( so yes thats the idea ), the members who feel they owe the forum something will pay a few quid, it also creates a "them and us" feeling, the payers think they are better than the non-payers, the non-payers realize this and play up to it thus creating a atmosphere

a portal is hardly going to rake in the money though, sell a few ad's etc etc

not being argumentative, just what i think

Matt, I feel your judging on what you have done and not what can be done, there is a bigger picture out there and things can and will work and make money, I honestly think your mind is very closed to making money (i'm not attacking you by the way, just saying what I think

More could be done with the clean it up brand. What an easy place to look for clean it up training courses, or to buy clean it up identity badges, or clean it up work clothes.
