Once every 6-8 weeks round here is the normal interval and even then it seems like I am there every five minutes. The windows aren't bad even after 8 weeks.

What people don't realise, even with monthly cleans is that the customer only has so much money and you can only take so much off them. 1wayno talks about charging £3.50 for a house every 2 weeks and putting it up to £5 for 4 weeks. I have a minimum charge if £15 for a house and I will clean it as frequently or as infrequently as they want. Most now say do it every 8 weeks. Thats fine, but offering two weekly cleans is shooting yourself in the foot because the customer is only going to be willing to do that if the price is rock bottom.

And my books are full, we are turning work away.

if u buy a round that is dun fornightly, and all of a sudden most of ur custies ask for it dun monthly and u kept it as the same price..u wud loose loadsa money, the value of the round whobe cut by half wat u paid for it,and up north where they sumtimes 2 cleaner on the same street,it very hard to canvass more work up at the click of ur fingers,it ur livly hood and if u got bills to pay for a family to look after u cant afford to loose that sorta money, and if the custies cant afford the extra 1.5 make a deal with em,like just do the fronts, but u dont wanna be loosin money, espec if uv paid good money for a round in the first place, and if word gets round that ur chargin the same price for monthly,ur gunna be in the dumps.

I reckon Vince has the right idea.

Most people would be happy for you to come monthly instead of fortnightly.

Use the trend to your benefit and pre-empt the change.

Tell them that you are offering all your customers a chance to save 40% on their monthly outgoings by opting for a monthly arrangement instead of fortnightly.

Let's say the house is £10 per fortnight (£20 per month) The price per clean is 20% extra so you would now charge £12 per clean but they are spending £12 per month instead of £20. So they save £8 per month.

Obviously you'd need to get out canvassing or buy a round and price well (or at least 20% more than the work you have).

In the end you'll be working the same hours for 20% more.

It's true that down south the standard is monthly but up north a lot are fortnightly. But its usually the fortnightly rounds that are really low priced and I'd say the difference in time cleaning a fortnightly and monthly job is negligible.
