While I was the ladders at the back of one the houses I done today I spotted a cony roof that looked prety green. How would you go about aproaching the home owners to get the clean, I mean you can hardly just knock there door and say "hi I spotted your conservatory roof was filthy and I would like to quote you for cleaning it"

Lost my weekly job i had got as the owners changed without telling me  :'(, then when all was lost i got a call there now from a house i had quoted a couple of weeks back, doing it this week and then possibly again before xmas so happy days if that works out, will make up for losing the weekly job this month anyway, then 8 weekly after that :)

Do any of you guys print your own flyers?
I don't often put out flyers,.. but when I do I always put a time limited special offer on them to get the calls coming in quick. This means that if I get them printed in bulk the offer has often expired before I have them all delivered!

I got a continuous ink system off ebay for my printer, some good quality paper & now I can knock up flyers as and when I need them,... and they work out extremely cheap! :)

I had thought of trying to run a few special offers, but to run off to the printers everytime could work out expensive. So your method sounds good. What's that's ink system like?

What special offers could you offer though?  Being serious here.

I normally do special offers on gutter cleaning & pressure washing to keep me busy when the weather is bad. The ink systems can be awkward to fit,.. but well worth the effort. I fill (about £20 for 4-5 colours) is the equivalent of about 100 cartridge.

i was going to run an offer of full guttering and fascia clean, half price windows.

£100 of work and get a free window clean.

recommend 2 friends and get free window clean

It happens to us all mate,.. just work on through it,.. it'll come right in the end.

I think canvassing can be hard on you mentally,.. day in day out mostly getting ppl who aren't interested. I found it got me down at times when I was doing it. When I was down I just dropped leaflets instead & made a note of where I'd dropped then called back after a few days when I was feeling a bit happier.

Set yourself small achievable goals,.. be happy when you reach them!

Try to get out of the house early. Everytime you clean a new house, flyer the whole estate. Aim for residential work as you'll get it faster & easier with less waiting for payment, essential when you're just getting going.

It is tough starting out, especially now,.. especially in the winter,.. but stick with it because the freedom of working for yourself is hard to beat.

a cheaper way to do leaflets is if the missus works in an office if she can print out two or four leaflets onto an A4 page then photocopy it say 50 or 100 times then cut them up and bobs your uncle...... ready made leaflets free of charge!!  she may need to do this on the sly though!! works for me! ;D
