Enamel Baths
« on: October 20, 2009, 08:30:04 pm »
Hi what is the best product to use to clean up enamel baths? My mother-in-law has 1 & it is getting a bit on the grubby side.

Many thanks

If it is surface dirt then ordinary washing up liquid on a well-worn sponge scourer should clean it...trouble with enamel baths is that they stain  :-\

Hi

Bar keepers friend £3.00 comes as a powder, shake on, wet a scourer and rub in, leave for a minute and rinse, repeat if necessary.

Toilet limescale remover (the blue stuff) £1.60 wear gloves (it's an acid) squirt around bath, scourer in again, rinse immediatley, repeat if necessary.

Fill bath with hot water add 2-3 caps of Bio Logical Persil, leave for a few hours, drain and clean

Good luck

Sorry Martin I wouldn't use any of those methods on an enamel bath!

I had my bath re enameled about 3 years ago and the guy who did it said not to use anything - products or cloths - that is at all abrasive.  All I have ever used since is cif foam cleaner and a non scratch sponge scourer, this does a wonderful job and it hasn't stained at all.  Spray with the foam, leave for 15mins rub and rinse job done.

Hi

That's ok foxy, each too their own!

I did one today actually, tenant had done a runner (not before taking a dump in the sink!)

Squirted toilet cleaner in, quick scour round with a metal scourer, also used it on the shower screen to eat the limescale, rinsed straight off, shined so bright I almost went and got my shades   ::)

Buffed up the bath with kitchen towel and the glass with glass cleaner and kitchen towel, came up a treat.

Also used it on the basin.
