Only if you sit on your arse at home Shaun waiting for the phone to ring!

Same for a taxi driver if he relied on an ad in yellow pages or the local news paper he too would have to build his so call client base before he started to make money.

What's wrong with everyone did'nt ya dad tell  you work will not come knocking on your door!

But taxis have taxi ranks and you buy the radio so the work comes to you from other places immediately, the analogy is floored.

Long term a taxi drive may earn the same in 10 years time as he does now where as we start from nothing and grow (hopefully) each year to surpass the income of a taxi driver but in 10 years you may have gone through 2 TM's and vans.

Said by a man with a half empty glass :-[

Ask yourself this question Shaun?
How many successful companies rely solely on Y/P and local newspapers to make their fortunes.

I still say your arse features high in the frame and geting of it works better when marketing.

There I thought you were the marketing guru Shaun

SELLING TELLING ;D

Not writing prity adds in the hope folks may need you.

Its all about getting out there and finding these dirty carpets and showing people what you can do.
And with a high powered all singing all dancing truck mount the results are much quicker than running to a hot tap and filling ya bucket.

Shaun if you can remember many years ago I said buckets are only use to carry your money to the bank not for cleaning carpets.

Tm's are only part of the marketing conunderum, people are the key marketing items there are many porti owners who can sell better than Tm owners.

I do believe you have to get out there but if you have the gift you can sell a good clean with many machines.

Thank you Mike but I'm chatting with me old mate Sheffield Shaun and we don't use them sort of words. We are frum up north!

Now then where wos I

Oh yes your right Shaun regarding the sales approach but what I was trying to get accross was how much easier it is to do a demo with a petrol opperated T/M than it is with a porty.

And the speed of clean as opposed to the time it takes to set up a porty.

I'm not saying the T/M cleaner is better at his job than a porty guy,  trust me I've seen some real classic acts in my time, all I'm saying is the results of a demo far quicker from start to finish.

Its all about showing people what you can do rarther than telling them

I agree with the USP but I think you change the way you sell to the items you have around you.

Very true but there are a lot of sceptics out there and they need reassuring that what we say we can deliver.

I agree perhaps I'm giving the wrong impression but I wouldn't like to sell a TM or anything else for that matter based on it sells carpet cleaning, the power of 'the gob' is the only way of closing the sale the rest is just sizzle.

This is going off topic but whilst we are this far down the road Shaun,
Lets say your asked to do a demo in a pub for instance, now what machine would you feel most comfortable using to show the client your skills?

A portable or a truckmount?
