We have been using a Steam Way 9100 truck mount for 5 years  ...off and on . Due to the fact it has been back to Alltec at least 30 times . Please dont tell us what do you expect ! Or , Thats a record ! Even Alltec have us booked in a permanent basis every fortnight ! Plus we go to Pirtec the hose people on a regular basis to replace blown hoses .  We actually spent about £1200-00 last jan. having it almost rebuilt !! to no avail .
There is more to our saga than what is here I promise y,all .

We have put this info . in to clarify our position . Reliabilty !!! Is what we need .

Of course there is always the case of having just a bad machine whatever make it is. I was down at Alltec last week and a guy I know from the Fast Track days was there. He is considering a Blueline 'T' Wave as he is paying too much tax, and want to offset some. His dilemma is that he has an old Steamway 910 like yours, only his has only given and continues to give good service even with close to 6,000 hours on the clock.
I have run TM for over 6 years now, my first a Steamway Sidekick, I have never had a solution hose go on me, even though I frequently abuse them.
Well maintained TMs, well looked after and serviced when due shouldnt give undue problems unless something is seriously wrong with it in the first place.

same as gerry, boxxer 421 only 16 months old from new.
had one problem, parts sent next day, step by step over the phone help to fit part, jobs a gooden. no problems since apart from scale up, my fault but again, phone help sorted it. can't fault hydramaster for enthusiasm, after sales care, quality truckmounts and friendly around the clock advice.

I'd love a truck mount but i've only been going 9 years!
Every time I mention it to my customers they tell me to save my money, they think I do a good enough job without one. Got to admit though I am starting to feel a bit of a twit earning a living with somthing that looks like a wheelie bin! 

In 9 years of being in this trade I have never seen a truck mount running, let alone have a go with one.
The Chemspec range looks good to me.

ditto what derek says, tm's do a better job in MY opinion but the main benefactor is you, jobs are easier and quicker so as long as you are a busy guy you can fit more work in your day,

True Derek,
I was doing a massive building last week and had to fill over 40 25ltr barrels of water at home in my bath! Thats a ton of water I had filled into 25 ltr barrels!!
I then had to lift all the barrels into the van and drive to the job. Arrive and unload them all, lift the machine to the third floor in order to get my 75ft of hose to reach the 5th floor. Then had to run down to ground floor to haul up the barrels of water not to mention all the bloody emptying.

All the time I was wondering if a truck mount would be easier.

Pete, If you were charging by the hour you'd have been on a right earner....

I dream of the day I don't have to fanny about with customers crappy taps and tepid water.... I'd like a TM by my 5th year...(3 and a half to go!) Don't get me wrong, the porty I have at the moment is outstanding and I hope I won't be changing it! But I could see many benefits of having a TM.... And HM is only 20 minutes away from my house.... Bargain!

look at it this way, by using a truckmount be it electric or petrol powered its like having an extra pair of hands on every job.
So lets say it costs £100 per week to buy and run for arguments sake, where can you get a helper for that sort of money who is ready any time of the day when you want to clean a carpet apart from still in Poland!

How many Taxi drivers get their client first before they spend £30,000 on a cab?

If you KNOW in your heart of hearts that you are going to make it in the business, then getting a truckmount is a pretty straightforward proposition, even with relatively little capital. When you are uncertain about the future and your capabilities it's a much tougher decision.

The only trouble is that a taxi driver can spend £30 000 and go out on a night and virtually that he can get work from day one where as us cc need to build up our customers.
