Hi
A new building I've started cleaning has a room with laminate flooring and is very slippy. I've been asked by the office manager to try and sort it out. Any ideas?
I was thinking along the lines of a non slip polish or such like but ain't got a clue where to start.

Hi John

I would not polish laminate. Try and find out what is being used to clean the floor, had one once that the customer had used fairy liquid. You could spray it lightly with plain water and use a microfibre mop. Laminate does not like to get too wet as it tends to swell. Hope this helps

Exactly as above, excellent advise IMHO.

never once have i encountered a slippery laminate floor (yes, rugs will slide, but not shoes) so i too am thinking that something is on the floor. I've heard of people using furniture polish on floors before now, so nothing can be ruled out.

As the previous poster says, you can't get laminate floors wet, so stripping it in the usual way is not really an option. I think lots of mopping with a netrual detergent, warm water, and a well wrung out mop is the way to go, but i have no idea how long it'll take to get it back to normal.

Is there anyway of knowing what is on the floor?

And more importantly, how are u currently dealing with this very real health and safety issue which is affecting you and your staff?

Question is, would you want to put that over the top of what is there (if anything) already?

I have a supplier who sells the non slip additive to Schools, Universities and Restaurants so I'm sure it's safe to use over existing products....made by Johnson & Johnson I think so probably well tested.
