not funny at all. too much of it going on. we have a few people who live in houses with wheels here and  if you have a transit then you might as well deliver it to them as it saves time.
when mine was nicked, i woke up to find it gone and due to a few money issues at the time i was then unemployed.
i had just split with my ex and had very little cash left. enough for a van but none left for equipment. its a shock to realise your livelyhood has been stolen. there has been some systems on ebay that the seller dont seem to know much about what they are selling, very fishy
hope you sort it out mate

They must have got the keys...........
Very common now that burgalrys are mostlyfor car keys. They either buy a cat d at a salvage auction then instead of repairing it itts cheaper to steal another and swap VIN plates and number plates

Other thing they do is just swap the plates and send them abroad - Cyprus is popular full of petrol heads with about five cars per household plus they drive  on the right hand side of the road so the steering wheel is in the right place

Hope you find it but dont think after this long there is much chance

I guessed they took the keyds too, but in the middle of the day?

I am going to look into tracking systems, and their costs.

Has anyone here got a tracker installed, or one they could recommend?

With expensive kit in vans nowadays, this is an area to be explored IMO.

I heard it might be worth putting a mobile phone hidden in the van somewhere so it can be traced.

I think you need to keep the battery topped up, of course, and it needs to be traced soon after being nicked before the battery dies, but most last a few days of not being charged.

Worth thinking about.  Hide it under the bulkhead/dash, inside a plastic box hidden underneath.

I would recommend Tracker Horizon suitable for commercial vehicles, operates with both VHF and GPS tracking systems.  Installation and first year subscription £560, every year after £130.

Typical, got mine six months ago, although this new price doesn't include the first year subscription (still cheaper now though).

I would take the precaution though of checking with Tracker themselves about the status of this supplier.

The advantage with the Tracker is that you get the VHF tracking from the Police unlike all the rest.

OK I will ring them and post here their response.

Thanks for advising about the police only tracking this make of tracker, I had (wrongly) assumed they traced them all when active.

I use 2 clever electronic cut out switches in my van. One is in the front cab somewhere hidden and the other is in the back very well hidden and under lock and key.

This was fitted my an auto electrician. There has been attempts on his systems in the past but non of the vehicles he has fitted this to have ever been stolen.

I know what the cynics are going to say "to much of a chew on" but it works very well and cant be bypassed unless you can programme the EMU. Trackers are very good but a thief could have the van stripped in half an hour. Best thing is to stop them from knicking it in the first place.

my van was being sized up by gypos today.

parked outside customers, and offloading hose etc, and saw them drive up the close, thought to myself "some poor so and so's in for bein ripped off!", went round to the back, and heard the deisel clatter of a van...so popped out as if to get something from the van, and sure enough, he was parked behind me, on an empty street, with his mate in the passenger seat, facing my van. made sure they knew i had seen them, and hung around van texting father in law who was in the area...after about 5 minutes, they left.

customer had seen all this, and mentioned that some gypos had stolen her trailer tent a few weeks earlier, and that she would watch the van while i worked out of sight round the back.

all was well anyway...

until i went to canvas a close a few streets down, and they reappeared!!! drove past the close, and came back, and parked at the end of the close just watching it, so i sat on a wall and watched them back...again about 5 mins, and they went.

be careful out there guys, thats all i am saying, this may have been all very innocent and me being paranoid, however, i doubt it, as they are renowned in the area for it...next time i may not be so lucky.

without my van, i am stuffed, and i really feel for anyone who loses their livliehood.

Exactly!

Alexander Swann insure Ionocs kit oif that is what you have, and provide a 'hot standby' van in case of accident or theft.
