Van Stolen today.
« on: August 22, 2009, 03:44:59 pm »
Dear All,
Just to let you know my mate had his van stolen today from Hayes, Middlesex, London at 2.45pm with a Volvo car following it. It was non sign written with a reach and wash system fitted and a double a frame ladder on the roof.
The van is a white Peugeot Partner reg KL53YZB.
If you see it etc please let me know.
Many thanks,
Nigel

How were they able to steal it?

Surely it had an immobiliser?

Sorry to hear that, that is a nightmare !
A lot of stolen cars/vans are moved along the motorway, and the police camera's that go off when they automatically record a stolen plate are pretty good, my neighbour got his motor home nicked and they picked it up 80 miles away on the motorway, I hope they get yours back safe and sound.
If not, I hope the insurance covers/pays for everything soon, good luck.

Did you have anything else in the van like sat nav etc ?

sorry to hear that mate, have made a note of the plate and will jeep it in my van and keep an eye out for you.

had a similar situation just before Easter while I was working at the back of a house and 2 scumbags tried to have mine away.     thankfully the lady who's house I was cleaning ran out and told me and I managed to get them and lets just say administer some good old scouse medicine to both of them.

and would you believe it it was me who the police had a real go at for taking matters into my own hands.
I nearly lose my van to 2 scumbags and its me who's told he may be nicked for assault and battery

and these wasn't kids they were grown men,   I had to go he police station the following thankfully to be told no charges were being brought,   but I told the police that if the same thing happened tomorrow I would do exactly the same thing over again regardless of what would happen.

the one thing is those 2 scumbags will think twice if they see my van parked up again.

dont blame you mate i would have done the same, if they had of pressed charges then i would of gone to the papers with the story im sure the public support would of been on your side.
better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove any doubt

the thing was after I gave it to the pair of them I said sorry to the lady who's house I was cleaning as she had to witness it all,  thats ok she said as she knew one of them and he had been caught breaking into her friends house,  how she recconised  him was that she went to court with her friend and all he got was 250 hours community service and she said after he had broken into her friends house it looked like a bomb had hit it.

she even had a right go at the copper for giving me a hard time saying the B******d deserved everything he got for breaking into her friends house and getting off in court with just 250 hours comm service.

she really spoke out for me

Very sorry to hear that mate.

Was the system insured?  (Did you get a courtesy vehicle?) so you can still continue to work?
