First NHS contract
« on: July 21, 2009, 03:16:27 pm »
Barring the formalities I have just won my first NHS hospital.

The main building is 6/7 storeys high and has over 10'000 windows to be cleaned inside and out.

I spent about 6 weeks putting the tender document together, to which i got short-listed down to the final 3 to do a presentation in front of the nhs trust board.

I did the presentation about 2 months ago and just got the confirmation this morning that barring the 10 day standstill period the contract is mine.

Never in a million years did i ever thought i would ever get to clean the biggest building in the County when i started window cleaning 11 years ago.

Well done that man. Don't want to wee on your cornflakes Dave, but have they set appointments/timings to do certain depts, or are you setting them as you go through the job? Also, what time limit if any to complete?

Cozy

I know the full scope of the contract including the schedule system, the tender document was only 50 pages long.

How do you go about cleaning the inside windows of the wards, as i am sure they are not going to move patients and i don't imagine you will be allowed to climb over them.
I do a few nursing homes and they can be a pain trying to get in certain rooms, so to clean the inside of 10,000 windows surely that would be a giant pain in the ar**

10'000 windows is a lot, but we can handle it, i employ 4 workers, we also have myself and my wife.

As for the cleaning inside, we will give them a date for each ward so with a bit of luck they will be ready for us.

What does it take to be in with a chance ? I wrote a post a couple of months back stating "what does it take to win that big contract" that should give you a bit of a clue.

The biggest criteria for me is to live and breath window cleaning. I look at every angle and never leave anything to chance or any stone unturned. Maybe i am a bit obsessed but i do enjoy myself and still have time to have fun.

Jodan# Yes it is Treliske and yes Derriford is well within my sights. but one step at a time.

Slumpbuster # You can read me like a book    ;D
