I cant believe its not carpet!

Hi all
Cleaned a carpet last friday that is in the offices to a flapjack factory. The carpet is covered in margarine and has been trodden in over a period of about a year. I used to clean it every 2 months but they cut budgets and have asked to come back in. I pre sprayed with Chemspec preclean enzyme spray, brushed in and extracted with F&F rinse (truckmount). I hit the carpet 4 times, although the blacktop has gone and it looks better, it still looks a real mess. Any ideas as I have got to go back this friday to try again
Thanks in advance
Tim

tim, i don't know if this method is any use to you... when i've done resturant/pub carpets, i use a product called 'enzo-soil one', its an in tank & pre-spray (powder), aggitate with a slow speed floor machine, & that cuts through the grease & black top, & then extract it off... charlie

Hi Charlie
Thanks for the response, who makes enzo-soil one? Is it similar to enzall?

Tim, margarine is primarily vegetable oil. How long did you leave the pre spray to dwell as the enzymes do need time to work. I think Enzall would be better.
Or I would hit it with a hot high alkaline pre-spray.

I sprayed it down using an inline sprayer and the concentrated mix was hot when I put it in the presprayer. In regards to agitation I used the broom, but I will be returning with my envirodry machine. I tried testing an area with some hydramaster grease breaker as it says you can apply this as a spotter. Although it broke down the grease, the carpet went lighter than the rest! The other problem is that they are Low profile carpet tiles.

Hi Guys
Timmy, I would forget the fibre and fabric rinse and use a highish pH product with the TM, you can always mist with acid rinse at the end if you are worried about pH.
Dwell time is very important with thick grease , so spray early.
Cheers

thanks Doug
What would you suggest, I've got some carpetclean XL in the garage, do you think that is more up to the job (PH 9.5)

this sounds like a job for "CHAMPION" by craftex, its great on grease, oils, grime, tar & very heavy traffic... ph 13.5... costs about £8.95 for 5lts... enzo-soil one is distributed by amtechuk.biz. regards charlie

Get the job done right & use Prochem Power Burst. If you aggitate it even better, rinse extract with acid rinse. The results im sure will be 1st class.

Sounds like a Champion job.
Hope you charge them more than it works out to do it on your old schedule.

Hi Guys,
Timmy , Champion must be stacked with sodium hydroxide to be pH 13.5, it will be effective on fat but will be corrosive and difficult to neutralise.
Powerburst in pH 11.5, I think ,which as pH is logarithmic scale is 100 times less alkaline than Champion (but the amount of buffering will also be a factor).
I would try Powerburst first but it would be an interesting experiment to try both.
Cheers

I had a really bad pub carpet and rinsed with prochems double clean after powerburst. Did a super job! Agitation is the key. Spray with FF rince/acidic rinse afterwards. If you have a bonnet system you could bonnet after double clean prior to acidic rinse spray, or if you get it dry enough why not extract again with rinse and finish with a bonnet. This is really restoration work and you should charge properly for your time. Then impress apon them the logic of regular and cheaper cleans

Thanks all
I've just ordered some enzall (sounds like I dont need it now - Damn!), I have powerburst and double clean in the garage so I shall give it a whirl. So my plan is prespray with powerburst, agitate with envirodry, rinse extract with double clean, bonnet and then mist with F&F. I will let you know how it goes.
