Hi guys i ve got a job to price on Saturday.I know i'm up against Chemdry. Does anyone know their pricing structure ?Thanks in advance Gordon

if i was dearer than chem dry, it wouldn't worry me.

Hi Derek I'm new to carpet cleaning and not to sure about the pricing structure.Do a lot of work for the customer concerned,i know she's very happy with chemdry and priceand an even better service are  about only things to move her.   Gordon

Each Chemdry cleaner will have different rates, my local one charges £180 ish for a 3pc suite and £90 ish for a lounge carpet. As derek says you charge what you want dont worry what everyone else charges, we all have different overheads and running costs so we all need different incomes.

Mark which CD is that? is it the ones that used to be on the TV? my CD charge from £120 a suite and £46 for a 12 x 12 carpet to £160 a suite and £70 for a 12 x 12.

I went to quote a commercial job, one firm in Manchester quoted £3000, Chemdey quoted £1100.  They dont have as much flood work nowadays so they are reducing the carpet prices.

there are loads of chemdry in this area, i dont give a toss what they charge
your job is to Wow your customers into using your services and explain the benifits
if this lady is truly happy with chemdry then the only other explanation is she is looking to have it cleaned cheaper in which cases let her phone one of the slap and dash merchants

i hear this a lot and once you get to the quote
(i take it you do go out and do a quote)
you will find she probably is not really that thrilled with chem dry and is only saying this as a bargaining tool
dont fall for it, go in with your presentation, and make sure she knows you are the expert and answer all her questions

dont waiver on price and tell her all the benifits of using you
I WOULDNT EVEN MENTION OTHER CARPET CLEANING FIRMS

Surely you try and compete with the other companies.
After all they will be wowing the customers and telling them the benefits of using them.
Provided their price was reasonable I would undercut them to get the job and looking at their
prices they are at the high end.
You know your worth it but the punters don't look at it that way, they just look for the best price
for a reasonable job done.
Did get one last week, got quoted £20 for her lounge, I qouted £45 and she said the other one is
too cheap I don't trust him you've got the job.

I assume those prices are plus VAT? Then what about deodorising, spot removal etc? If you are good enough you will get the work either by the standard and price of your work (combined) or your personality (It counts believe me).

Deodorising and spot removal as extras??!  Ian they're not running a bait & switch operation :    (the prices will probably be ex vat, check the small print)

John, you got that job through "perceived value" which is exactly the way that "expensive" carpet cleaners win their customers.  She thought your higher price would get her a better job, but in truth who knows, the other guy may have done a better job than you (no offence intended) but just can't sell himself for toffee!!

I can't understand why people have to ask other people how much they should charge

its a bit out of focus these prices include vat and there is no max size or small print, do'nt know what they say when they get in the house

Derek     She didn't intend changing but i do other work for her i explained that i was starting up c/c and as she is happy with my other work managed to persuade her to give me a shout at the carpets.Could lead onto 25 to 30 properties

I wasn't suggesting that C/Dry are bait and switch - just enquiring what is (or is not) included. It goes back to my point about your own standard of work. I have seen adverts stating "3 rooms for whatever £" - deodorising and spot removal extra - whats the point of cleaning the carpet at all!

Average lounge and dining room steady away 2 hours inc set up/set down??

I find that some customers don't actually care about the price, they just want the job done and they ask what method you use.... The one's who are just worried about the price, I usually don't get my foot in the door and it's no great loss.

Personally, I don't worry or care about other C/C's prices, I'm more concerned that I'm offering a more friendly, reliable and professional service and gaining 100% customer satisfaction.
