New fishing pole needed...
« on: May 07, 2009, 07:41:23 pm »
I've had my Gangster pole snap too many times now, and it can't be botched together any longer.
I'm restriced to low level work now, and I'm bloody skint.

I thought I'd try the Zensorflex pole, as although it's a bit heavier than my Gangster, it's part glass fibre and stronger.

Tosh says he's not had any snappage with his, but has with the carbon Gangster.

What i want to know is where's the cheapest place to order it?
I've found Fishtec do it for 18.99 and with postage about £27.
I'm sure it's around cheaper than that though...

They seem to only have the 6M pole, not the 8M one.
Will I need the 8M to get the bigger sections?

I've got a couple of the bigger SL2 and Gangster sections, so maybe I don't need them...

I too have snapped my Gangster pole after very light usage. Jeff B is very kindly helping me out with a replacement section,.. but I reckon I'll be trying the Grandslam 11mtr pole next. Apparently its a bit heavier,.. but hopefully that means the carbon is thicker/stronger.

the Grandeslam Energie 8M Pole is the replacement , i have the both of them and its hard to tell them apart ( apart from the sections are slightly different lengths

they are 20 quid

http://www.mullarkeys.co.uk/fishing/poles-and-accessories/carp-and-match-fishing-poles/0/grandeslam/8632/

or

http://www.trevstackle.com/products/Grandeslam_Energie_8M_Pole-5018-676.html

1st option is 7 quid postage

the 2nd has 6 quid postage

job done, fill your boots, i allways order 2 at the same time as it brings the postage to ok price ;) get in touch with tosh, he might like a spare pole and you can share the postage ( save yourself a few quid )

Nath the pole is good you can raise it from the floor but its bendy! and very whippy.

So is the Energie any more whippy than the Zensorflex?
Which has the shorter or longer sections?

I only need a few of the middle sections anyway.

not much difference, held up and the same angle the Zenflex has a SLIGHT less bend

the sections are only slightly different in length,

These poles usually snap on the female section, I have now placed whippings round these to give extra strength. I don't know if that will do the trick yet as I haven't used it since, but it's got to be a help.

I used to bind my sections when i used to go fishing with cotton and glue to stop section joints snapping don't know if that would help you guys that use fishing pole but defo worth a try and cheap to do.

I've always wrapped tape around the base of each section to protect it from being bashed off the floor,.. but as Dia says its is nearly always the female section that splits, so perhaps continuing a winging of tape 10 or 12" up each section is a good idea?

I think that's a good idea.  God knows how my Gangster broke; I only used it for the stuff I couldn't reach with my Zensor.  It's fixable though; so no problems.

My Zensor has been great though; and I've given it some stick; bashed windows shut with it and I don't treat it with any real respect or care; it's cheap and I've got two of them.
