It's a funny old game!
« on: March 17, 2009, 07:46:02 am »
I live on a small estate of about 35 houses.  I have seen 3 windowcleaners on here working fairly regularly, and I'm not one of them.

Funny old game.

Have just moved to a new town and have vowed not to do any window cleaning in this town at all...nice to be able to keep some space between work and home.

Funny old game.

I live in an estate of about 40 houses, and there's at least six window cleaners who pull up and clean various houses and leave; though one window cleaner seems to do the bulk of them.

I only do two of my elderly ex-soldier neighbors; but I do them for free; the mug I am, and one of them is a detached house with a large/awkward conservatory with a massive fish pond making access difficult.

I tell them I'd charge them at least £25 if I was asked to quote; and they just laugh as if that's a ridiculously high price!  ???

I'm an old soldier too Tosh, come and do my windows mate. 25 quids worth for free?
I had an old biddy (dead now)that I did for free but that was about 20 minutes work and she lived a hundred meters from me so it was easy.
I've got a couple of guys on one estate here that put visiting cards through letter boxes and hope for the best but they don't get many houses. No threat really, lucky me. :)

I never do any of the houses in my vicinity. In fact until a couple of years ago I didn't have single job in the town (50,000 population) I live in. I do now have a couple of apartment blocks, but they are not on my doorstep. If any neighbours ask for a window cleaner I give them the telephone number of one of our sub-contractors who also cleans my windows.

They are coming out of the woodwork again.

Pulled up, saw two windowcleaners doing a house trad, they were just about finished with the front, and I started cleaning my house (fairly identical) finished 5 minutes earlier then them. Gotta love wfp.

Same here.
I clean my neighbours windows when i do mine and that is it. I prefer to separate home from work by several miles as well.

I've got £100 worth of work in my small cul-de-sac. I prefer not to do it especially if the weather is iffy. Still, it's only money.

I'm sure they all think they are getting a discount, funny thing is they are my best priced jobs.  ;D

Never have and never will clean other properties in the cul-de sac where I live. When I turn the corner in to my street my work is over and that's the way I like to keep it.
