customer of mine has an eight week old suite that looks awful, i am pretty sure the material is a linen and it already looks 'aged', she said that after just a couple of weeks the seats were looking grubby it seems that what she is seeing is the colour of their jeans coming off onto the material, the jeans are well washed old jeans though.

the company who sold her the suite has offered one free clean and that is it.

i don't think that is fair, does anyone have experience of this sort of problem, i think she would better having her money back as even if it comes good with a clean presumably she will be back to square one in another 8 weeks. don't forget this suite is only 8 weeks old,

If I'm reading this right.

She should get on to where she bought the jeans.

If I was the suite company I'd tell her to bog off. 

I have a potential custy who has a similar situation and the jeans company are picking up the tab.

Surely the problem is with the jeans and not the suite. If the dye in the clothing was stable then it would remain there and not transfer to the suite.

well i would agree with you but the jeans are OLD jeans, not new, they have been washed many times, perhaps it's not the jeans but the material looks very dirty/worn after just 8 weeks, you really can see a big difference between the seats and the backs,

sorry if i have upset you mike, just trying to help out a customer who has a probem, don't you have customers? ok the jeans bit was probably a no no but nevertheless just asking for a bit of advice, didn't ask for pi** taking,

mark, the company who sold her the suite have suggested a clean by their man, not me, i just happend to be there today cleaning carpets, i just think that if she agrees to a clean by them, they will then wipe there hands of the problem if it reoccurs

Perhaps it's a fabric that is completely unsuitable for making upholstery out of.

It's never stopped suite manufacturers in the past using fabrics which may look good but which are entirely inappropriate/practicable for general use.

I'm also assuming your customers are reasonably clean and tidy people.

I did a clean last year for a young lady with exactly the same problem ! her girlfriend wore new black levis and the colour came out all over a white cotton sofa,was def the jeans as it was only the one her g/f chose to sit on ! was not an instant thing took a couple of months before it was really bad just cleaned as normal came out ok

My own sofa at home has this problem as a matter of fact. I buy cheap crappy jeans and have always just lived with the fact that my sofa (Light Cream) has blue die stains. They come out easily enough when I clean it but I'd like to know if there's a way to slow down the process of it happening. Sitting around with no trousers on isn't an option I'm affraid. My biggest problem at the moment is the littlest peeing on the sofa, I've just banished her to the faux leather bean bag.

Suffice to say the sofa's getting a clean on Friday, dunno how much to charge the wife though

Cleaned one on Monday.
Owner said she'd had it cleaned a year ago 'cos of blue dye from jeans.
She said the shop that sold the jeans paid from their insurance for her sofa cleaning.

Job went ok,lady in question well what can i say,nice but not fit as such,plenty of kt tunstal albums around ! and special intrest mags behind the sofa,which she was embarassed about !
Beleive me , i have Dj`ed at some very extreme Gay clubs,and have seen things going on in the back rooms at Turnmills that would make your eyes water,arm right up to the elbow type things ! 

Even had the pleasure of accompanying a mate who was booked to play at a sportswear fetish do,was scared to go on his own !

I would suggest the customer agrees to a clean BUT puts it in writing with the proviso that should the problem reoccur then she will consider the suite unfit for purposeand demand a refund.I know there are holes in this thinking but it may be worth a try.
