£11 an hour.......2,000,000 people unemployed. No brainer to me. Some of us are very good at canvassing work and getting it and establishing it..hence why we are renting some work out...we have too much....

However many people don't have the skills to canvass...or build a round...and establish it.....

That's why we are offering the work at £11 an hour !

Oh and by the way that's nearly double the national minimum wage..

that's dreadful !! . . around here, people take between 15-20% take for rent. . (maybe you are and this is just very poor paid work). The poor person doing it has to supply a van, equipment, ladders etc.

I know someone who takes 30% but he supplies the vehicle and all equipment and uniform and his work averages £50 p.h so the person still gets £35 per hour.

plus, what kind of a person are you gonna get for that sort of money ?? . . more hassle than they are worth ?? . . they won't do a good job and as soon as something better comes up they'll be off and you'll be back to square one again.

Far better to pay a decent wage and get reliability and quality. After all, everybody knows that window cleaning is a good job. Once they get a bit of practice in on your work they'll soon head off to where the grass is greener !

Also, if they are unemployed and as you state unable to canvas etc then they're hardly gonna register themselves as self employed . . which they can't do anyway if the only person they are working for is you. So you will have to sort out all their paye, national insurance etc.

Personally I's put the wage up so another window cleaner will want it.

This isn't directed at you Brett cause we've spoken to each other before...

Guys, it's not rocket science. We need a person with a van, and ladders, and insurance who may already be a window cleaner looking for some more work cause he (or she) may be sitting at home waiting for the phone to ring. Or somebody who may be very good who has just started out. Dare I say it with a bit of hard work they could complete this easiily in 5 days, and have earnt £621.00 gross. Thats £2,484 monthly pro rata.

So what's it gonna cost this person in real terms ?

Tax..yep..that's life it's a legal requirement we all have to pay  it!!

Some diesel..all the work is really compact and again, hey...that's life we all have to buy diesel !!

but it's also not rocket science for someone to work out that with their own van they can earl 600 odd quid in 2-3 days trad!!

my brother does traditional window cleaning and brings in between 250 and 300 per day, that's a big jump from £120 !!

That said, I hope you find someone, and don't worry, you will.  :)

Thank you Stan The Man for showing a realistic approach to this.

I'm actually surprised some of the above guys ( exc. Brett) waste their time here on CIU when they could obiously be out earning £50- £1000.00 an hour!!

I think you are all being to critical about this ,someone starting out with not enough of there own work would jump at this chance to earn, also there is no collecting involed which in my book makes it even better

very true couldnt have put it better myself

from what i know of julian he runs a very successful and established business

lol !! . . it was 9:15 in the morning . . plenty of time to go out and earn !! ;) which I did indeed do !!

A realistic approach would be what a friend of mine did . . He went canvasing for a week and got some work for the following week. The days he didn't work he went canvasing for the next week. Ok, it took him a couple of months to build up a decent round, but you can bet your life he doesn't earn £11ph !!!!! . . and no collecting cos down here people send you cheques !!

So, We're not being critical, we're just  being realistic !!

but i think you'd give it a go for an extra £20-£30 pound per hour ?? . . or get someone else to canvas for you. I've done that. In the long run everyone's a winner  ;D ;D ;D

anyway, this is boring !! . . Doesn't bother me what anyone else does, I just think that with a bit of effort you can better yourself.
