Newbie marketing question
« on: March 15, 2005, 05:09:42 pm »
Hi guys, just a quickie.
I was told by a guy that runs a leaflet distribution company in my area that if i have my leaflets dropped solus  I can expect around 3 times the response that I would get if I have them dropped on a share plan. I was just wondering if any of the experienced leafleters can confirm whether there is any truth in this?
Thanks in advance for any help
Cheers
J

the question is;

is solus more than 3 times as expensive ;) if so it defeats the object.

what prices have you been quoted?

In my area its expensive! I've been quoted between £38 and £55 per thousand. I was actually thinking of delivering my next batch myself since I don't have much on at the moment in which case its just my time (which is quite cheap  ;)) plus the printing.Incidentally tradeprint warehouse are doing 20000 2 colour A5 for £99 at the moment which I think is fantastic!

Anyway if I can get more paying jobs by delivering the leaflets myself and getting my girlfriend to do some then I think thats the way I'm going to go, well until I have more regular paying work anyway...

Cheers guys

If your girlfriend is happy to deliver flyers for you then make sure you hang on to her, in fact marry her now right now.

£38 a thousand Solus is a good price is there a minimum amount.

How many do you want out a week.

You and your Girlfriend could deliver say 2000 and get company to deliver 2000 cost £80 or £20 a thousand

How much work would that generate.

Hi J

I have looked into distribution recently.

A local company has quoted me

£40 solus per 1000
£25 with 2 other per 1000
£20 with 3 other per 1000

I discussed further the solus, explaining I was hoping to get to 5000 per week and he quoted me £30 per 1000 solus!!

I also contacted DBS Ltd (0800 413819) who are at £38 solus per 1000, min 10,000 BUT they can also offer demographic info to help you target better.  Won't budge on price til you get to the million mark though.

Hope this helps

Chris
