Mr D, by a strange coincidence I've just received an email from a female friend of mine from years-ago whose now living in Hong Kong - earning big tax-free bucks - teaching Chinese kids how to swear in English with a Yorkshire accent...

Quote from e-mail:

Quote
Oh I moved flat a couple of weeks ago and now live out on an island off Hong Kong island - being a satellite of a satellite  does that mean I have to go round in circles all the time?
The flat is one of many blocks of purpose built flats - as in there is f*** all else on the island apart from a bit of beach, a few rocks and rolls of tumbleweed.  But it has been transformed into a holiday resort like place and after 2 weeks I'm beginning to hate it - I feel like Patrick McGoohan on 'The Prisoner' - I'm going to start ramblin round telling Chinese strangers 'I am not a number' and they'll nod inscrutably and mutter 'f****** English teacher' when they think I can't hear.
Anyway - away here - your 5 seconds should be up now,
You take care and stay in touch when you can xxxxxxxxx

So even living on a holiday resort in exotic Hong Kong isn't much fun.

I wouldn't want to live anywhere else apart from the UK.

lol@tosh.

you crack my up doode. friend sends you a privet email and you copy and paste in on to a public viewable web site! lol remind me never to mail you! lol

i would never move to hong kong. i fing hate them! evil barstools! the way they treat animals discusts me!!

I had a guy helping me on my round two or three days a week, he had served 20 odd years in the Australian police, is married to an Australian, and has duel nationality. He decided he couldn't take to it living back here and went back to Australia.
Twelve weeks later they were back, he said that aus had changed and just wasn't the same.
He lasted 3 years and decided finally that Aus wasn't such a bad place after all and they went back again.
he has been back there about 6 years now and is loving it, unable to find work he started window cleaning, mostly shops. This guy now has all the work he needs, he's in his 60's but works from 7am till noon. He lives in Harvey Bay Queensland.

I have another mate who went for a holiday to Indonesia, he met a very attractive young lady in a bar, he came back here, sold his flat and moved out there with his life savings that amounted to about £80 grand including what he got from the flat. This guy is 74 and there's no NHS in Indonesia. Talk about burning your bridges, but he's as happy as can be, got a lot more bottle than me, that's for sure.

Hi guys
Interesting stories.
Just wondering has any one here tried to set up a window cleaning business in DUBI?

It could be thriving business as there is lots of rich people and plenty sand so is a never ending clean of windows . ;)

It's okay, she's Irish, a Catholic from Co Kerry who taught in a school in Halifax for years; she's got a warped sense of humour; she wouldn't mind; believe me.

Besides, the private bits of the e-mail I never included; just the general stuff about living in Hong Kong.

Bosh,

Have you been to the Middle East?  There's no way I could clean windows in that heat!  It's seriously oppressive.

Hi Tosh
Yes I have been to Dubi several time, basically you don’t do the work in that heat, there are so much cheep labour from Pakistan, over there that you don’t need to do the work yourself, and Mr. D. is there shortage of water there?
If so it be very difficult then.
