I used to use the halfords lacquer on my old ionics poles but since I started using X-tel I have never had a need to use it. These poles never seem to wear (but they do split if extended fully all of the time!)

Is that using engine lacquer, or just being a good brand of pole?

Simon.

My SL-X really coats my hands in dust.

I just bought some engine laquer, and it's in an aerosol can.

Any tips on how to use this daveshaw?

I don't know if it's any good for poles, but nackerlaquer ads lustre to your cluster.

lightly rub the pole with a fine wet and dry paper just to give a key then spray as normal rub down between coats , i prefer the dipping method where you get a fishermans pole tube and fill it with engine laquer you can get a gallon for less than £20 , you then bung each section of your pole up and dip into the laquer then hang to dry summer time is best for this .

Do it make the section thicker, or should it be all right with just two coats? How long does it last? Does it have to be reapplied now and then?

basically you are making the sections thicker with the build of coats , i first did mine around 7 months ago and as yet it dont need doing , maybe in time it will need to be re-done but at the moment its fine .
