I was thinking you could make the same thing for not much money and that the whole point of the gutter vac was having a very powerfull vac. You could use almost any twin vac to have the same effect as this one

The mindset of some of the members in this forum is so negative.

In the summer a householder ordered a 36' guttervac just to do their own home a 3 bed semi.
I have recieved two emails today because of this ebay listing from home owners that want to buy the domestic guttervac, again just for cleaning their own gutters.

This unit  is judged as too expensive for people that could be earning  £100s a day with it, but individuals that will only use it on their own homes think its resonable.

You state that this set up can be purchassed elsewhere for £300.00 - it cannot.
You have also totally pre judged the power of the unit and it is not available anywhere else it is manufactured exclusivley for us.

But Glyn, if you are selling to householders you will be doing us out of a job! It's just the same as selling cheap R.O. units isn't it? When they realise what we charge for gutter cleaning they can buy their own and sack the gutter cleaners.  ::) Thanks for preserving my job.

I agree with ftp on this one. I have been thinking of buying a gutter vac but am concerned that if housholders and general handymen get onto it then there will be no real money to be made out of running a gutter cleaning business. I think the whole idea of having a full professional setup is good whether it is from omnipole or diy and hope that cheap products don't put people like me off spending the money. I used to run a bouncy castle business when all you could get was expensive professional castles and then when the cheap imports turned up every household bought one.

we are not going to sell anything to you thats obvious and if a householder wants to buy a complete 36' guttervac system for £1398.00 inc Vat. to clean their own gutters two or three times a year then I am certainly not going to turn their business away... Its hardly the same as a cheap RO that is within everyones budget.

Glyn, you implied that it's aimed at householders and that's probably why you have used Ebay to push it. So in effect you are aiming at OUR customers OUR living OUR livelihoods. Make your mind up, one minute you are critisizing a small company for offering householders an opportunity to buy their own wfp kit cheaply and doing it themselves then within a week you are doing exactly the same.

I say well done Glyn..........

You can't complain about his prices and then moan when he brings out a cheaper option........

I'm sure he will sell a few of them to domestic customers and good luck to him.
At £922.38 inc of current vat @17.5% (this may be cheaper still tomorrow) I don't think it will damage our business that much and it might actually help us all. People will start to realise that here is a way of doing the gutters SAFELY and easily from the ground and so will start to look for this service. Many of the domestic customers who buy it will get fed up and call the professionals in when they realise its not that easy to do first time and that it takes practice which if your only using it a couple of times a year will take a long time to get......

If you go in to your local diy store you can buy very cheap wfp type poles which they advertise so you can do your own windows with them but has that put window cleaners out of business......?   NO
Has owning your car put taxi drivers out of business....?    NO
Has owning your own lawnmower put gardeners out of business.?... NO

It does mean that this service will be offered by a few more window cleaners which will be even better for those who can go higher than this system, because they can charge a premium, or those who are more adapt at useing it or those who already use and advertise it......

Regards
Mr H

I think is a bad move also maybe not for omnipole but definetly for us your customers.. Surely a company like omnipole should be supplying trade only so to speak..  A good few of my customers ask me how much did the system cost me i always exaggerate it a bit.. Now they will see it on ebay etc  and just think thats what i have.

Also whats stopping hotels, School Caretakers etc.. from purchasing these and  doing us out of job.

Also how can we charge good money for jobs when they think we may have only paid about a grand for our system...

I have no problem with the DIY version because it is only available to knowledgable people whom are in the industry looking to future there services...

In my opinion this gets a major thumbs down from me :( :(

Just to say Glyn, i was suggesting to others on here that they GET A  a kit similar, i didnt say the same.
Also you can buy a vac that is more powerful than the tripe motor one you sell for half the price FACT.

In all honesty it doesn't bother me that there is a cheaper version on the market and i agree fully with Mr H and his post. It's the Irony of the comments of the cheap RO unit thread that made me laugh.  ;D

I've seen quite a few reports on Glyn's equipment,.. and the feedback overall extremely good. Quality equipment that goes the job its made for.

I still want a petrol powered version though,... and there's no way I'd go near the Ionics one,.. don't think I've heard a single good report about it so far!

Nathanael
We have built several petrol powered versions over the past six years .
One was almost identical in design to the Ionics sell based on a leaf sweeping machine except ours used a larger HP engine, we just couldnt get the suction as powerfull as an electrical motored vacuum. Another one we built used a petrol powered Husquvarna leaf sucker as the basis of the equipment although this was qiote efficient it once again didnt compare to an electrically powered unit. The noise and running costs were also an issue.
We havent scrapped the idea totally but to be really effective a diesel powered truck mount unit will be needed I believe.
To make it viable I feel  it will need to be a big contract machine most  probably powered by an Izusu 3 cylinder diesel engine because they can run very slowly and are therefore more aceptable dB wise.. The trouble is unit like this would be in the region of £8 - £9,000.00
would cost in the region of £7500.00 - £10,000.00
